I am 50-50 on this one. I would prefer him to fight a top 10 guy like Hrgovic. Dubois and Itauma aren't going to fight Kabayel just yet.

While i would prefer Kabayel to fight a top 10 dude, we saw what happened with Parker. Parker had already earned his shot at Usyk, was denied a shot, was then told to take on a dangerous top 10 dude and ended up losing his shot.

Kabayel deserves his shot at Usyk and i can understand his management not risking his shot at the titles by putting him in with a dangerous opponent. I am sure Parker's management are kicking themselves for letting him fight Wardley rather than waiting for him to fight Usyk.

So if the sport was genuinely based on merit and guys were rewarded for taking risky fights even if they lost, i would love for Kabayel to fight Wardley or Hrgovic. Problem is even one loss puts you at the back of the line up for years.

Bakshi puts Duran on the canvas, he gets up but is super-wobbly. Ref waves it

No doubt Kabayel expected to be nominated as WBC's official mandatory at the end of last year. Sadly for him (and us), the WBC would prefer to give Wilder a clear path to Usyk. It looks like a bad fight, but if Kabayel was scheduled to fight Usyk next up (which he really should be), it wouldn't look as bad as it does.
He is in position, and yet Usyk is targetting Wilder...

this is absurd. Of course he deserves a shot at Usyk. Other than Wardley, who is an equally deserving contender? Either the sport is merit based or it isn't. How does Wilder deserve a shot when he hasn't beaten a single top 10 guy in years?

Kabayel beat Zhang, the same Zhang that destroyed Wilder, yet somehow Kabayel doesn't deserve a shot but Wilder does? Make it make sense.

It all comes down to what generates the most interest in fans... because more interest equals more money.

No one is interested in Wilder-Usyk. Usyk's team are living in another era where American boxing was big. Therefore, they think that Wilder being American is going to give them high ratings or PPV buys but this is pure fantasy.

Truth is heavyweight boxing just isn't a big deal in the US. The welterweight to middleweight divisions plus whatever circus Jake Paul is involved in gets attention of US fans.
