There's a part of me that's morbidly curious though. Just how much does he have left in the tank. Is he still top 15? Would he fall somewhere in the top 20-30? Or would father time slap him so hard that even he loses to weaker half of the top 50 and beyond. Idk.. I think Wlad would still probably be fringe contender level but he probably gets chinned badly by anyone in the top 10-15 at this stage.
I do not want to see Wlad in this situation This content is protected Theres a plague-ridden rat that would no-hands jizz in his pants if this happened to Wlad.
Confident he'd still be many levels above that sad version of Holyfield... But yeah if he fought someone decent it probably wouldn't be pretty.
If I remember correctly, Wlad has expressed his desire to take Foreman's record on a number of occasions. Whether or not he was serious remains to be seen but with that window of opportunity rapidly expiring, we may never find out. Would love to see it though. I think there's a genuine chance of an upset.
Klitschko has been out of the testing pool for years. No doubt he has been taking as many roids as he wants to in his retirement. People may not like to hear it but Big George probably did the same during his hiatus and it helped him tremendously. Not even hating just saying it like it is.
Wardley is a winnable fight, somewhat, given how much damage Wardley has taken over the last few years. And clearly Wlad is technically levels above Wardley. Also, Wardley is now going to be slowing down physically due to his age, and this will effect him greatly given how much he relies on his power. That being said... Wardley is also one of the most dangerous guys in the division and quite clearly can pull a miracle out of his ass at any point. And he could easily overwhelm Wlad in the opening round. Technically, Hopkins is the oldest man to win a world title when he beat Shumenov in the unification fight, doing so at the age of 49. Wlad turns 50 at the end of March. I do have the curiosity to see if Wlad could pull it off, but given the talent in the division its sooo hard to see him do it. Also, both Hopkins and Foreman were active boxers when they pulled off their records.
Why would Foreman have taken steroid when he was retired for good? His comeback fight was the highest he ever weighed as a professional, so clearly he had not been preparing long for any sort of a comeback. The weight started coming off of after that first comeback fight. I am not going to argue that Foreman never took PED´s, I just dont see why he would have taken any during his 10 year retirement.
I hope Wladimir stays retired. He dominated the heavyweight boxing scene for years, and it would be sad to see him lose to the top guys now. Father Time is Undefeated. They could do an exhibition match with Briggs, with part of the proceeds going to charity. That would be a nice and kind thing.
I think getting knocked out at 50 probably does a lot more damage than getting knocked out in your twenties. Please, stay retired, or just fight influencers or do chess-boxing or something
If he is fit, and I suspect he is, and can get back some ring sharpness I'd actually love to see this. Not v Fury though. The problem I think is Wlad was a precise boxer with impeccable timing and I doubt he could regain much of that skill set, and also, he hasn't taken punches for a long time, could be a ko waiting to happen. If he is going to do it, he should use the Foreman route and fight himself fit, a fight ever 8 weeks or so against lesser opponents building up to a title shot, or not if it doesn't work out.
Nah, Steward has become massively overrated since his death. He was a good trainer no doubt an was very good in stepping an helping already established fighters who seemed to have lost their way but apart from Hearns how many great fighters did he train from the beginning of their careers right up to the top?
