Parker lol shot wilder scraped past the mummy with no stamina Zhang suffered two kd and bakole 36 hr notice built like a hot air balloon both overrated imo
Honestly, it may sound crazy, but i truly believe the Wladimir Klitschko of 2010/2011 would give Usyk all sorts of problems. Was well conditioned for 12, a master at holding if your pressure gets to close, a lightning fast ramrod jab, a bazooka of a right hand. His front foot twitchy pressure and bodywork against Fury was the key in the first fight and eventually it paid off, but you could see the trouble a 6'7+ frame boxing him at range presented. I think Wlads robot style that him and Steward put together could honestly get the job done on the right day and it seemed perfect against the smaller man. To play devils advocate though, i did watch Wlad drop his cheeks for 12 rounds to Tyson Fury who hardly threw a punch and just feinted his way to victory, maybe Usyks front foot pressure feinting would have messed with him too. Actually.. Yeah thinking about it, forget everything i just said, ill still post this comment anyway because ive come this far and i feel like ive been typing for a good 10 minutes to just not post it.
HW speed is not going to cause Usyk problems, he came from CW. Prime Tyson could potentially have blasted Usyk out, but if it wasn't by round 6, Usyk takes it. Lennox Lewis with his size and strength might have taken it to the trenches, and as a much better fighter than Fury, would probably beat Usyk. Frazier / Marciano types are rare. Granite chinned and stamina for days. Hard to say how Usyk would go against them, but I highly doubt Kabayel is in that league.
His brother would have a better chance. That being said, Wlad's kryptonite was big punchers, and I wouldn't classify Usyk as a big puncher at HW.
This is a slight alteration of the narrative, imo. Dubois had the best 3-fight winning streak out of all the top dogs, giving 2 granite-chinned dudes their first stoppage losses (even if he did Hrgovic dirty with the headbutts) and squashing AJ. I don't think AJ was shot to pieces, he was more probably scared and got flashbacks to when Dubois dropped him in sparring back in 2016. You had the whole "low blow" narrative from the first fight too, where experts and fighters alike were divided over whether or not it was a legit low blow. A lot of Usyk fans were also worried that father time had caught up with Usyk and that Dubois was in his prime. Even the boxing media gave Dubois a huge chance to win, where even Tony Bellew, Brendan Ingle and others thought Usyk would get knocked down and at best scrape by a UD/SD win. This was the only fight Usyk could take, and especially after Dubois confronted him in the ring.
Nah, Vitali didn't like slick boxers, look at his Byrd fight. Wlad had an ATG jab, an ATG right hand, better balance, controlled the distance better and most importantly - had a lot of experience against southpaws. He also had that one punch power than Vitali lacked.
Parker beating Wilder 120-108 is similar to Dubois beating Joshua, both ex-champs years past their best. Zhang then cracked Joyce's chin twice after Joyce put on a clinic against Dubois and made him quit. The reason he sparked Bakole at short notice was that Dubois shamelessly pulled out the day before the fight. Bakole stepped in out of shape, I don't really count that win, but the merit of Wilder and Zhang trumps Miller, who is nowhere close to world level, and Hrgovic who, as you say, was headbutted into oblivion. Thin pickings in a poor decision, to be honest, whichever way people try to sell it.
Nonsense. Kabayel was also on a good winning streak and undefeated while Dubois had multiple losses including to Usyk himself losing every round. Nobody would have taken issue him fighting Kabayel instead. Worries about Usyks age would have been there regardless of the opponent so irrelevant. Parker was coming off wins over Wilder, Zhang, and Bakole which is a good run.
I watched that one. I didn't see much wrong in the loss, tbh. Was definitely made close in part through the flash KD in Rd1. That was actually Parker's first fight under Andy Lee with very little time to work together after what was a poor performance against Fa. Parker beat Chisora up in the rematch later that year
No. People would've been complaining and whining about that low blow for the rest of his life if he hadn't rematched Dubois. Just recently Don Charles reitirated that he thinks Usyk's a cheat for "faking" that low blow.
