Just curious, are y'all starting to get that SOMETHING is wrong with the Moses Itauma narrative?

First off...I wish the guy well. He has some obvious offensive skills, and I hope I am wrong. But they are hiding something.

-I've already made threads about my suspicions. It started with me because they talk Usyk, they fight Whyte, they avoid Sanchez, they demand Pulev who is a light puncher, they go dead silent when Gassiev--a BIG puncher-- beats Pulev, they sign to fight Franklin. There is a definite pattern here of wanting the shot fighters and lighter punchers while talking a good game.

-Rumors were flying of him being sparked in sparring, or already showing some signs of CTE. I never believed that, but...

    - Then there was this crazy interview where he was slurring and not always making sense. Was he stoned, or...

-Finally, now, on the heels of that interview, he's pulled out of the Franklin fight with an "injury."

    - Meanwhile, he fought only twice in 2025

So, what is it? Is he injury prone? Is there a drug problem? CTE? Sparked in sparring? Packing glass? What exactly are they not telling us, because this is no second Tyson we were seeing here.

I suspect there has been alien involvement and they don't want to disclose it in case people think they are nuts.

    Probably a combination of things:

    - Chinny.
    - Hype marketing.
    - Steroid cycling.
    - Easy title route.
    - Possible laziness in camp.

Saying he has CTE might be a little far fetched but the brain works in weird ways some times. I don't know what the plan is for him, he was hyped early as going for the record for youngest champ and now that the time has passed it seems like they are pulling the reigns back a little.

He is clearly talented but I think it is wise to pump the breaks. Beating Whyte and fighting Franklin feels like a proper development schedule. I'd like to see him face a young gun like Torrez or a veteran with a chin like Sanchez or Ajagba

Trying to not draw too much from what we have seen so far

He has a highlight reel like no other heavy that age since i don't know when.

That makes him marketable like crazy. I always though that is what makes his handlers move him weirdly as they do.

Calling out champs and delivering less is the tank davis playbook and he is not the only one. In any case it would make sense to move a young prospect with marketablity very cautiously.

I think Itauma can only be a disappointment measured against the unrealistic expectations that go along with his marketability. People want him to fight Usyk...

In reality I don't know any other talent his age that i would currently put above him or even close to him. Not that I know many that age...

Compare his activity to Mike Tyson his age.

Ituama fights just about twice a year, whereas Tyson fought every month at worst.

That IFL interview that got taken down was disturbing; he could barely string a sentence together, kept mixing up boxers' names, and just had this odd, vacant stare throughout. Very worrying for a 21-year-old. Combine it with this near 2 month delay for an unspecified injury, and there's definitely something happening behind the scenes that Bricktop isn't happy about. Could also be nothing, like bad ticket sales. We'll find out in due course.

He was moved forward too quickly and wouldn't be shocked if he crashed and burned but I will defend the handling of Itauma on 2 points I've seen raised here.

Ducking Frank Sanchez. I think that was totally fine. Frank Sanchez might be a true top 5 HW. If avoiding Sanchez is so wrong why don't people blame Usyk for not fighting him? Fighting Frank Sanchez could have ruined Itaumas career. And because Frank Sanchez is so underrated that loss would not be forgiven. Look what happened to Jared Anderson and Bakole. People treat Jared Anderson like hes certified road kill.

HW has a huge traffic jam in the top 50 where everyones huddling around for a title shot or oppurtunity that would justify the risk of losing. And there just aren't enough of them to go around. Whether it was a mistake or not Itauma has advanced high enough where being active really isn't in the cards.
