It’s funny that you saying that “Dana wants to lowball fighters” when undercard UFC fighters make way more than what undercard boxers do. Also, it’s also funny that none of the champions complain about being underpaid. Sure, some fighter price themselves out of fights and ask for too much money but that happens in boxing as well. The funniest part is that you saying that boxers have gotten paid very well the last few years, yes the 5% got paid, how about the undercard fighters and up and coming boxers? They still make “peanuts” as you claim Dana pays.

I have a friend that’s a 18-0, 16ko’s boxer that still make peanuts, for guys like him the Zuffa Boxing is great. He would get paid.

Most of you nerds on this board have no idea about the sport of boxing or MMA for that matter.

 

They are underpaid at the top and do complain about it. That is why Ngannou and Mcgregor tried their hand at boxing. Yes, boxers go to MMA....when they are done with boxing. The MMA guys come to boxing when they are hot to make money.

 

Ngannou is begging for UFC to take him back so that didn’t work out well and McGregor did a mega fight with Mayweather. Crazy part is that both McGregor and Dana thought they could win.

Name one high level fighter right now that complains about his pay in the UFC? Fighters is always thinking they can/should get more money, few deserve it.

 

This is just denial of reality. He reportedly made more from fighting Fury than he made in his entire UFC career. There are things that can be debated, and then there are facts. It is a FACT that a big-time boxer makes fantastically more than any UFC fighter.

As for your UFC fighter, Pereira, the biggest star, just tried to get Usyk last year. It fell though because he lost. This is recent news. THE BIGGEST STAR.

 

Nnganou ended up leaving the UFC because they were lowballing him. Think about how great a Nnganou-Aspinall fight would be, and yet that did not happen due to UFC and White.

Lots of UFC fighters were furious due to White not allowing them to wear their own sponsorship clothes. They wanted to unionize but the UFC successfully managed to resist this.

Boxers at the lower level may not be paid as much but once they get to a good level, they can make up for it by making far far more. So they have an incentive to keep going due to the amazing rewards at the end of it.

You did not address my points about the stagnation of UFC. Lots of UFC fans aren't happy. There are still some good fighters and some good cards, but compared to 7-8 years ago, UFC isn't as popular amongst casual fans and the die hards aren't happy either.

If the UFC actually decided to share a larger percent of their revenue, you would see a bigger more successful organization. UFC reached incredible heights from 2014-18 with Rousey, McGregor, Jones etc. By now, they should be way way bigger than they were in 2018. But White has not significantly increased fighter pay, especially for elite fighters, and that has led to stagnation.

White is very lucky to have exciting fighters like Touporia and Periera who have basically carried the organization for the last few years.

 

I'm pretty sure Jai and his team set a minimum pay per fight before he signed.
He isn't just going to sign up and not know what he will be getting.

 

I'm sceptical on Zuffa, doubt they bring anything good to the sport. Dana wants to address real problems in the sport but he is one of the most exploitative promoters in fight history.

All for more boxing and there's gaps to fill after recent years of distribution deals falling through.

As for Jai... I'm not sure how his career benefits from this move but hopefully he's getting paid atleast.

Yes, the main boxers stars make a lot more that the UFC stars, but the lower level UFC fighters make more than lower level boxers..

UFC was worth 7 billion 2018 and is now worth 11 billion, please tell me how that is less successful??? Everything you say is just made up from your feelings and with no facts.

 

All I’ll say is the deal is extremely well paying. Jai’s next fight will be announced before long and he’s defending his belts. I’ve heard Zuffa are close to capturing more big names too.

 

Ngannou was reported to have made $600k in his biggest UFC fight as the heavyweight champion compared to the $10m he did in his debut fight against Fury. Do the math.
