Interesting debate going on with Holmes and Wlad. For the record I have Holmes at 3 and Wlad at 4 on my own list. I prioritize long reigns and facing prime quality opposition when doing my list. As such I give the slight edge to Holmes because he did reach 48-0 where Wlad did lose three times before he hit his dominant reign. I do believe Wlad’s opposition gets undersold as he fought many fighters at their best, that had long and accomplished amateur pedigree. The Eastern Europeans that were finally allowed to compete would have beaten many fighters perceived as better, strictly on their superior technical ability. Guys like Povetkin, Chagaev, Ibrigamov, Pulev, would hold their own in any era, and often get overlooked by Western bias.

Corrie didn’t retire.

He had a few fights afterwards.

I wasn’t even being serious. I was just playing No Neck at his own game.

But Wlad was never going to rematch him.

For what?

A huge, huge risk for zero reward.

He was happy when Vitali had beaten him and then he went into obscurity.

Wlad never tried to rematch him.

You couldn’t blame him really. But again, No Neck was trying to be clever talking about Holmes having rematched Shavers.
