Moses Itauma's chin is non existent.

I've talked to a boxer who sparred with him and they stopped the sparring after 2 rounds. He knocked Itauma to the floor and it wasn't even because he was hitting particularly hard. They had told him before the sparring that he wasn't allowed to hit hard. I didn't do that either, as he told me :)

Remember in sparring you wear large soft gloves while in combat you wear ultra thin ones.

Basically, it's a shame for Moses Itauma that everyone has talked him up to be the greatest heavyweight since the Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier era.

This seems very suspicious, I think this fight has already been postponed once before. This is the problem with modern boxing, the HW division is very stagnant due to fighters simply refusing to fight on a regular basis (see, e.g. Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz) and fights constantly being cancelled at the last minute for bogus reasons.

    Sorry but I call bollocks
He may end up with an average to poor chin but why on Earth would a top promoter look to then put so much investment in to such a fighter with a non existent chin

I mean if you were made aware, I'm pretty certain Warren is or was too

Well, it’ll make for an exciting career because chin or no chin, he doesn’t fight scared. Unlike some of the names mentioned, and he’s already got that aura where nobody wants that smoke when his name gets mentioned, otherwise they’d all be queuing up for the fight.

Worst case he ends up box office like Khan, or a modern version of Moorer, or whomever, depending on what level he plateaus at.

I don't even think AJ had a bad chin, it was just okay. His powers of recovery were more an issue, he took that right hand from Wlad and got up.

Do you reckon they would have put him in with Whyte, who whilst being spent has always had some degree of power, if he was as chinny as all of a sudden is being reported?

@Heisenberg what's your take on this?
Obviously without giving away much about the spars

Whyte has been next to zero threat for years and cannon fodder for any upcoming heavyweight - he is really about the same level as the OAP versions of Michael Sprott or Matt Skelton that Joshua fought.

Whyte looked like Ronnie Barker in Porridge when he fought Fury nearly 4 years ago. He was never any better than British Level standard along with Chisora and only the magic sales act of Mr Eddie Hearn had the public believing both were World Level.

No idea what to believe with Itauma but I remember David Price looking great until a punch landed and he fell apart.

So far so good for Itauma but we wait with anticipation to see what happens when someone lays it on him.

I acknowledged how spent Whyte was

My point is he can still crack
Would Warren risk that at this stage of Itaumas career

Possibly a calculated risk as he looked weak in his previous fight
But a risk never the less

Dubois answered that question firmly - both chin and recovery.

Yes he did get up at times but even British Level Whyte rocked him in round 2 and he was lucky he was not facing someone decent that night.

Joshua appears to have a similar issue to David Price when a punch lands - energy and confidence drains away quickly taking far too long to recover.

It was a small risk due to Whyte's age, recent performances and he was simply too slow.

Chisora with his 1 punch per round telegraphed overhead right was more of a risk for me.

Itauma v Joshua would be a good fight for both next.

AJ was long in the tooth by then to be fair, a truely bafffling defensive display too.

If he is truly a glass cannon then the natural comparison is with David Price.

In some ways the Franklin fight is a similar type of opponent to a Tony Thompson, the fight that completely ended Price’s realistic ambitions at world level.

If Itauma really does lack a chin to the level of speculation here, then Franklin should be able to drop him and put him into deep waters.
