@ 140. Two fighters with similar looking records although Bramble was champion and a top fighter for a brief moment before being relegated to gatekeeper status while Augustus never had the opportunity and was also unlucky to have some fights not go his way. Both guys known for their always entertaining fighting style with high punch output. No doubt this would have been a very fun scrap from start to finish.

Doe Augustus at his best have any decent shot against someone like Bramble? Surely he'd have a better chance against the Bramble who was never the same after the Rosario fight.

There’s no way of picking Augustus against someone that good.

Prime Bramble wins easy. Bramble unfortunately fought on for too long and was never the same after the Rosario ko loss.

Bramble was in his prime at 135 when he beat Mancini and Crawley but after he lost to Rosario he fizzled out quickly especially when he moved up to 140. Although he did put on some admirable performances when he lost some very close competitive fights at 140 when he fought Oba Carr, Santos Cardona, Charles Murray, Rafael Ruelas, Freddie Pendleton and also manage to stop Harold Brazier. It would have been interesting to see how someone with the skills and awkward style like Augustus would do against that version of Bramble who was no longer at the top but still went to war.

I thought Bramble beat Carr comfortably I'd consider that a borderline robbery IMO.

It's been awhile since I've seen that fight but I seem to recall that fight being very close although I do remember scoring that for Bramble especially for the two knockdowns scored in his favor. Been wanting to revisit that fight but it's so hard to find a video of that now.
