Though the fight was great, Gaethje is so damn sloppy. Paddy was landing some good precise shots sometimes but not enough. There were so many chances for him to capitalize.
Paddy no defense at all against the overhand right,. He was getting throttled by it all night which cost him the fight. No boxing skills , aint going to last
LOL at this analysis, thank god you don't do it professionally. Justin looked outstanding and executed a perfect game plan. He knew he was the stronger fighter, walked through gloves up and completely dominated in the stand up game, And it wasn't even that close. Justin landed big overhand rights ALL NIGHT., and being the shorter man at that. How do you think he was able to take Paddy's back so easily all night? Paddy was the one who looked sloppy and had no defense at all for the overhand right. In fact, he was turning his head away from that shot and giving up his back... I will say that Paddy did take 2 eye pokes during the fight , one in each eye. That certainty didnt help him.. But let's get real Paddy got his ass kicked .. Even win the fight went to the ground Justin was on top in the same position every time dominating the ground game as well. He's got heart and it was a great scrap. but Paddy was clearly the weaker fighter and got outclassed in this one.
Paddys striking has come on leaps and bounds but is still so amateurish. I think the consensus was Paddy will be smart and get this fight to the ground as often as possible. Instead stayed banging with a guy who loves violence. Showed great heart, great toughness but ultimately the gameplan for me was not great. Fight was so winnable but hes thrown it away. This was the worst outcome, because nobody really wants to see Ilia put Justin in a bodybag but we would have been slightly more intrigued with Paddy vs Ilia. Instead we now have to wait for the real Title fight between Arman and Ilia even longer.
He had a pretty good thing going with his jab in round 3 but seemed to forget all about it in the next 2. The talent is there but he’s green as grass at that level.
Paddy was carrying on how he would destroy Topuria, he would get holes punched through his head by Ilia

Thats a different fight. Sometimes overconfidence is a killer. Paddy said himself he would rather be fat and happy, and he knows exactly what he is doing. He didn't take this fight seriously as he should have, and it showed. Justin clearly was a lot stronger than Paddy and was throwing him around. Massive weight cuts are extremely hard on the body and they take their toll. Paddy noticeably looked weak in the ring, and Paddy was a BIG favorite to win. He got outclassed including the ground game which was a surprise too being that easily tossed around
