Holyfield I'd be confident would've stopped him. Byrd I think would've won a comfortable decision. Faded Tyson of the early 00's would've stopped him. Haye would've stopped him. Valuev... I don't think Wilder could've knocked him out, and clunky as he was I think sugar Nicolai probably could've eeked out a close cards win - equally, with Wilder's suspect durability, I wouldn't completely rule out a stoppage. Tua I think would've been a problem for him. Guys like Brewster, Sam Peter and Hasim Rahman would've been 50/50's... Briggs could certainly have stopped him, it would've depended who landed first. Again - he's got a punchers chance minimum against all of these (except maybe SNV), but I can't look at this and think he even wins half of these - they're all at or above the level he struggled at.
Nah No way that version of Holyfield is stopping Wilder Haye is the only one that I can go either way on Of course he can get caught by someone like Brewester and Rahman but Wilder is the favorite
Based on Wilders physical attributes and power, heart and stamina Holyfield was too old and slow at that point. Wilder wins a decision or maybe gets a KO late Mike Tyson was a 4 round fighter at that point. Sure he can get Wilder out of the early but most likely doesn't and gets stopped late (especially the version of Mike Tyson who showed up against Danny Williams or Kevin McBride) Tua was just too short and slow. He's not getting in range of Wilder cause he'll be afraid of his power just like he was vs Lennox. Will most likely look like the first Wilder vs Siteverne fight Haye is an interesting one.. Valuev is too slow. Probably Wilder points win Briggs is a 4 round fighter with asthma. I doubt he beats Wilder but he has a punchers chance Obviously Wilder is vulnerable to getting caught or being out boxed but I'd make him the favorite in all of these matchups The 2000s era of heavyweights was far worse than this era over the last 10 years
He beat Vitali by injury in a fight he was getting dominated in. That being said, Wilder would be easy work for Byrd, Povetkin, etc.
I suppose it goes without saying you rate all those higher than I do (other than possibly heart). No older than Ortiz (38 in 2000), and FAR more accomplished in his prime... And Ortiz took Wilder 50/50. I don't know if I'd quite bet on it, but I'm cautious there generally - Evander would've been rightly a fairly strong favourite. Agreed Tyson was declined... He'd still have put a lot of pressure on in the first half, which Wilder wouldn't have coped well with - if Wilder saw the back half of the fight he'd have a decent chance, but I don't think the guy who couldn't take Fury's limited power would survive even 00's Tyson. Short and fairly slow - yes... Equally, pretty sturdy and could bang... I wouldn't be surprised if either of them won. Too skilled, too high a level operator for Wilder - the Haye that beat Valuev skins Wilder alive. Not necessarily impossible, but I think Wilder would've landed something big and been unable to cope with the fact SNV was still standing as if nothing had happened... He's more skilled and capable than he gets credit for - I think it probably goes the distance and Valuev realistically wins. Whoever lands first - if Wilder keeps cautious for a while he probably wins, but he might well get sparked too. A Battle of the glass cannons. I wouldn't give him better than 50/50 in any of them, barring possibly Briggs, but it really could go either way. I'm not convinced... Besides, we're talking about guys who were at least on a level with ancient Ortiz, if not significantly better - and Wilder pretty much showed that was his level... He not only failed to beat anyone better, but he really did go life and death with Ortiz first time round, and didn't win without controversy. I think you overrate Wilder - you think I underrate him... All a bit of fun to discuss through regardless.
You're anti Wilder bias is hilarious for you to call Wilder vs Ortiz life and death He knocked Ortiz out in a competitive fight where he was up on the cards (close at the time of the stoppage) and dropped Ortiz 3x while Ortiz didn't drop his once. Even with the extra time controversy at the beginning of the round this is not life and death Your hyperbole with Wilder is ridiculous
Your fanboyism is ridiculous to suggest that was anything other than close... Not difficult to throw the hyperbole around, is it? The simple fact of the matter is, his best win by far was a 38 year old Ortiz, who wasn't all that special... And it was a close/competitive fight where he probably should've been behind on cards (if not the champion and A-side at the time, he probably would've been) and realistically wasn't far from getting stopped himself. The idea he runs through a bunch of better fighters without difficulty seems far-fetched to the point only a fan would want to claim - if it weren't for having held a belt for a while, I don't think nearly as many would back him like this on the basis of resume and proven ability.
Byrd is too stationary, say what you want about Wilder but 12 rounds is a LONG time for him to eventually time you with a right hand out of hell.
None of those fighters are better Only Byrd is more accomplished and that's because of very fortunate timing Wilder isn't struggling vs Golata
Seriously? So you're Ortiz at 38 was better than: - 38 year old Holyfield - old Tyson - Haye - Valuev - Tua And claiming not to be a rose-tinted specs fan?! Only a Wilder fan desperate to big up Ortiz for Wilder's sake could think that, surely?!
