Zuffa Boxing will have its own belt and will NOT recognize the other bodies

Watched a post fight interview with Dana White. Here are some of the take aways from White from that interview :

We are going to travel with this everywhere. Just like we do with the UFC.

Will Jai Opetaia fight at cruiserweight or heavyweight? We haven't talked about that yet.

Could we see a Zuffa champion fight say a WBC champion? I'm never going to say never.

Was everybody who fought tonight signed to Zuffa Boxing? Yes, they are.

What role does TKO play? Nothing. When we want money we call them.

We are interested in women's boxing too but haven't got there yet.

We have deals in the place the world doesn't know about yet.

Judge us at the end of 2026.

People are finicky..

there just aren’t enough boxers currently to keep with people’s attention span.

I didn’t even see who’s fighting on Zuffa boxing.

I personally think there’s not enough boxers..very fringe sport.

probably see some MMA guy who wants to crosss over into boxing..

 

Funny, apparently Opetaia is defending his IBF at his March 8th Zuffa Boxing debut. Are they going to not announce or show that belt?

 

Zuffa Boxing begins their Paramount deal just as Top Rank, Golden Boy and PBC have no network budget deals.

Interesting timing!

 

I honestly think he should have tied this in totaly with the UFC brand over just starting Zuffa, just call it UFC Boxing, Similar looking belt, branding everything. it would have been the best way to bring in some "Prestige" that could even beging to compete with the other belt holding organisations which for me is the biggest thing to deal with here, I'm all for a one belt organisation but its going to be extremely difficutly to compete with the prestigeous history of the other organisations like wbc,ibf etc. The UFC brand is HUGE, Being the "UFC Boxing World Champion" would sound so much more credible than some zuffa champion.

 

I know they "Don't recognize other belts", but surely they will have to do some crossover fights with other belt holders to keep the eye lights on.

They don't want to play with the other org's so they should be separate

 

Anything with Nick Khan's involvement I'd like to see fail

 

If a fighter signs with Zuffa, can they fight non Zuffa fighters?

 

We are in the boxing is completely irrelevant era.

 

Maybe they don't like boxers getting millions of dollars from alphabet sanctioning bodies, unlike MMA fighters, and they want to put an end to it.

They will probably destroy WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO, and in the end they’ll get boxers, too, to accept working for low pay just like MMA fighters.

 

It all come down to money. It is as simple as that
