Really underrated defensive skills, and yes head movement, in his prime.

Zapata was good too.

Could Locche perfectly dodge a killer flurry from Prime Leonard and then use that same leverage he got from his head movement to throw a flurry on his own to back Leonard up?

 

He could certainly dodge it. I don't know if he could also fire back, offense wasn't exactly his strength.
Like I said, I like Duran a lot and for me he's top 6-7 all time p4p.
But strictly analysing defense, he's not as good as Locche, Whitaker, Mayweather, Toney, Benitez, etc.

 

Head movement is not only defense, head movement can be used both offensively and defensively to both escape, dodge, counter or initiate action towards your opponent.

The guys you've mentioned MAYBE were better than Duran on the defensive part (although i disagree with some of them) but they certainly were not able to utilize that same kind of head movement in order to confuse or put offense on their certain opponents like the way Duran did.

 

Jose Napoles somehow gets underrated in these, he's not tops but given his style he's notable. Come at the opponent, draw a lead, slip and batter him with counters. Rinse and repeat.
