Several of the guys he actually fought were considered more dangerous than Ortiz though. It doesn't seem reasonable that he would duck Ortiz to fight Povetkin, Parker etc. Logically he should have been steered away from them as well

If there actually is any regret from his team, it likely has to do with Ruiz making Joshua quit and Ortiz losing to Wilder.

Ortiz’s team did apparently make the call without running it by him though, which he wasn’t happy about.

 

Yes, Eddy, who happens to be a compulsive liar, claims he offered 6 million and raised it to 7 as a last ditch effort. Ortiz was paid in the higher end of that range if not over it for Wilder 2.

And he didn’t have to breach a contract either.
