Fury V Makhmudov announced for 11th April.

Seferi, Pianeta, Ngannou, Schwartz, Wallin, Chisora III were not exactly FotY candidates.

 

Good fight after 2 back to back losses and a 16 month layoff. Knowing how Fury operates, could have been a lot worse.

 

I think it’s painfully obvious that the winner of this gets Wardley in the Summer, with Queensbury crossing their fingers for Usyk v Fury 3 very late this year or in early ‘27. Unfortunately, I think it’s the outcome Usyk also wants which disappoints the hell out of me.

 

Gonna go for Mak for the upset here, Fury will be 38 this year, has spent years ballooning up in weight, binge eating and drinking, and taking drugs, he's also been in a number of wars now, and he will overlook Makhmudov. We've seen how pedestrian he can be against opponents he thinks he's a level above. Mak is a live underdog here, and Fury is grossly overrated.

 

I think after Makhmudov Fury will choose Wardley or Joshua. In my opinion Fury would prefer to fight AJ (no world title but more money), but at the moment it's unknown if Anthony will continue to fight. I don't think we'll see Parker in the ring for a long time...

 

How long do you think the gap will be between fights?

 

He doesn't, but after seeing Fury vs Ngannou I am not 100% sure Fury will come in any sort of shape or in any form of seriousness, in which case this one could get dicey.

 

Recent rumors have suggested that Fury could fight Wardley in the second half of 2026, so I think the Gipsy King could fight again in November or December. Obviously, barring injury or an unexpected defeat in April (and any bizarre behavior, anything is possible with Fury).

 

Yeah, but he looked way better against Usyk than Ngannou. If the Usyk version shows up, I think he beats twitch. But you never know with Fury. I cannot argue on why you have reservations when speaking about Fury.

 

Fury is overrated but far better than anybody Mak has beaten thus far, Mak is extremely limited.

Fury by UD. He'll want to get the rounds in and shake off the rust before he takes the belt off of Wardley for his third shot at Usyk.

 

So a fight in April....again in the summer months....then November or December?? 3 fights in 7 or 8 months?? The last time Fury managed that was 2011

 

Yeah, it's more to do with Fury being over the hill than Mak being any good, I think. If he were in his prime, he would box his ears off, but in the same way Senchenko beat Hatton, and Danny Williams beat Tyson, the body just can't do it anymore at some stage, and Fury is reaching the end of his career. It's compounded if someone has a history of bingeing on food, alcohol, and drugs, and has been in many wars. At 37/38 it's only a matter of time before his skill level goes off a cliff, and it often happens when people least expect it. I honestly think Mak could win this one.

 

Not the worst opponent for a comeback fight, as Makhmudov probably does have the power to KO Fury so at least there is a bit of intrigue here. Unless Fury has been negligent in his preparation (a la Ngannou) then he should have Makhmudov punching fresh air in a very one sided bout. Still, regardless of his very glaring limitations I quite like Makh and I can't begrudge him this payday.
