The last part is definitely true But Ruiz Apprently got a slice of the PPV revenue so I'd imagine the offer to Ortiz had that included Show did a massive buy rate too
Yeah would be interesting but I would bet to Wilder by KO. Byrd would make it tricky. I think could be entertaining style match up
I don't think Golota beats Ortiz and I think is in a 50/50 fight with Braezele and once again you are making the resume mistake that many people on here do when we discuss hypothetical fights
I always try to be respectful to everyone on this forum, even those I disagree with, but this is how I see it I don't mind if someone is gonna go off of resume for hypothetical matchups if they don't know how to evaluate boxing without that but don't disrespect the people that can actually use some level of imaginative thinking
Any matchup with Wilder brings in the often used terribly cliched,,,punchers chance. Byrd could beat him,,but.
Indeed... He'd get dominated BUT still has a punchers chance. The only question really is how much of one, and that depends how good an opponent we're talking about... And it's difficult to be sure of that, even, when he wasted his prime and didn't provide evidence that he could operate consistently against contenders (if anything I think the evidence tends to suggest he'd have struggled against more than he gets credit for).
The thing is, I just dont think Byrd is as elusive and as defensively sound as he gets remembered as being. Guy was walked down and demolished by Ike. Dropped repeatedly by Wlad. Dropped by Mccline. I also think Wilders ability to land fight changing shots gets undersold a bit by people bringing up his general lack of skills. Wilder was not very skilled, but over the course of a fight he was good at gauging and finding his range and eventually throwing and landing the shots he needed to, to stamp the fight. I think its a fight where majority of the time is spent with Byrd being evasive, but he has enough lapses that I think Wilders aggression and power wind up edging the fight for him because I do think that he winds up finding Byrd more than once on the end of fight altering shots. Ultimately we disagree mainly on Byrds defense, and Wilders ability to eventually land the punches needed to win him the fight.
I'm about 70% sure Byrd would school Wilder and about 30% of me says Byrd schools him but Wilder catches him late.
