Whyte was better then Breazeale but Breazeale was a more interesting matchup for Wilder because of the size and power. If Wilder blasted Whyte out easily it makes Whyte look worse same with Breazeale devaluing the win. Like how Joshua devalued his Wallin win by making everyone think Wallin was overrated. If Whyte gave Wilder problems it would have made Wilder look worse because Fury and Joshua beat him more easily.
No, at the time, Whyte had wins over Chisora (x2), Helenius, and Parker. Breazeale didn't have any wins of significance (it was all school yard beef nonsense to sell a fight he hadn't earned in the ring). Whyte had won an eliminator (Chisora 1) and was WBC#1. Breazeale just got gifted mandatory for reasons... leap frogging Whyte and skipping the final eliminator. As for Ortiz, he had already had his shot. No one was really avoiding him, but he was used as a pawn - quite unfairly I might add. But maybe so was Whyte Well Fury has nothing to do with it. Whyte was #1 for Wilder, and that later transferred to Fury. One led into the other, so the point of comparison may never exist if Wilder fights him. And Joshua beating Whyte was at British level. Whyte improved quite a bit after that. There was no real excuse for ducking him. Whyte brought eyes, a solid ranking, and money, all things Wilder needed.

Fury beat wilder and had to defend against Whyte, played and beat the **** out of him, which also kind of showed whyte to have talked a lot of shyte about how stylistically he’s always got the better of fury. Earlier, he was ordered to fight Ortiz, with the winner fighting wilder. Whyte refused to take the fight with Ortiz so Ortiz got the shot. Whyte talked a lot of shyte and some people believe it. The only official duck was Whyte ducking ortiz.

Oh cmon, you don't believe that? He's 46 (minimum) for goodness sake and couldn't beat a poor version of Andy Ruiz over 3 years ago... If anyone was ever scared of him, they're surely not now. If he's still targeting name fights, and not getting them, there are heaps of better reasons than fear - he's not relevant anymore (arguably barely was at his peak) for starters... And if he's expecting too much money, or unreasonable clauses, etc, those would be more likely too. He still has a little bit of name value, and there are plenty of fighters around who don't mind a soft touch or are desperately trying to cling on despite their own declines... You think Fury wouldn't have fancied it, for example? When you look at a whole career where limited opportunities arose, it's a pattern - yes, he's unfortunate to come from a "lesser" boxing nation in terms of ppv value... But he's either not tried to build past that, or he's simply unreasonable in his expectations. Either way, avoided now is just not the word, surely?!

I think they knew Whyte would have a very good chance of winning - stylistically I think he'd have given Wilder trouble and whilst Wilder had the power to stop him, more often than not I think the bronze bumfighters bakelite mandible would've been crushed before he got to throw it (solid 60:40 Whyte)

Very true, Whyte v Ortiz was yet more nonsense from the WBC/PBC. Fighting to be "second mandatory" for a guy who fights a mandatory every few years if he feels like it. Lol -You'd have to be drowning in the PBC cool-aid to believe that. The WBC were obliged to make Breazeale v Whyte as a final eliminator. Whyte v Chisora was one side of the eliminator, Breazeale v Molina was the other eliminator. Instead, the WBC said sorry, Breazeale is now mandatory, and Whyte you can fight Ortiz (who had lost to Wilder) to become second mandatory. Lol The brass neck on sulaiman trying that one Luckily for Whyte WBC were caught changing the PR material for Breazeale v Molina from eliminator to final eliminator after the fight - the boxing press caught them in the act. Whyte with that in his back pocket threatened legal action, and the WBC folded and ordered Breazeale v Whyte. Unfortunately, when Wilder needed a replacement, who got the call? Breazeale... and they named it Wilder's mandatory lol The next time the mandatory was due was when Fury defended against......Whyte. So this notion that if Whyte had only fought Ortiz he would have got his shot against Wilder is a myth. Both Ortiz 1 and 2 were voluntary defences. The reality is Wilder avoided Whyte like the plague. And like you, I don't necessarily think Whyte would have even won. I actually think your reasoning for why he ducked Whyte is spot on. Don't feel too bad for him, his team managed to convert beating a fringe contender into not one but two world title fights. And it tends to be forgotten but Ortiz did his own ducking of fights when it suited him. Ustinov... Joshua... The guy's career best win is going life and death with Charles Martin. Before that was beating Bryant Jennings coming off an abysmal performance against Klitschko. Which is basically equivalent of what Oscar Rivas achieved, except at least Jennings had built some confidence with a 5 win streak when Rivas fought him. Like it is actually good he got a title shot, but the way some people go on about him. A guy who lost all three of his biggest fights. It’s interesting that the only fighter in history who repeatedly gets crucified for saying he is going to kill an opponent is Wilder. This is not a rare thing to say leading up to a fight, (many have done it) one has even gone as far as saying he wants to eat someone’s kids and that he is going to r4pe people…but nobody wants to bring anyone else up. hypocrites. Why not just say you have so much emotion and hatred for this one specific fighter (wilder), that it does cloud your judgement in being fair and balanced and turns you into a hypocrite
