Not posted on here in a while.

Been rewatching some of my favourite fights this week. Decided to re watch the first Fury Usyk fight. Only the 3rd time watching the whole fight and decided to re score it. My opinion at the time was Usyk winning 114-113. 6 rounds a piece and just the knockdown separating them. Let's see if that changes:

    Round 1 - Usyk

First half of the round felt Fury was winning, Usyk not throwing much but trying to push Fury back. Final minute of the round Fury decides to showboat essentially giving away the round as Usyk lands a couple of body shots and an overhand left.

    Fury 9-10 Usyk

    Round 2 - Usyk

Good shot by Usyk to start the round. Good body work from Usyk again. Usyk pushing Fury back, however Fury did respond with a good uppercut to the body and then a good uppercut upstairs to end the round. Close round but Usyk landed more.

    Fury 18 - 20 Usyk

    Round 3 - Fury

Good couple of jabs from Fury. Usyk starts to push forward again and landed a good shot with Fury backed up into the ropes. Good right hand by Fury. Another close round but Fury probably nicked it on punches landed.

    Fury 28 - 29 Usyk

    Round 4 - Fury

Early bodywork from Fury, letting his hands go more. Usyk still pressuring landing some good shots. Good uppercut from Fury. Usyk still constantly pressuring trying to back Fury up but overall Fury probably takes the round landing the more power punches.

    Fury 38 - 38 Usyk

    Round 5 - Fury

Good right hand from Fury. Middle of the round good body punches from Fury, first time Usyk is pushed back a bit. Usyk struggles to land anything meaningful.

    Fury 48 - 47 Usyk

    Round 6 - Fury

Best shot of the fight so far from Fury an uppercut that stops Usyk in his tracks. Followed by a big uppercut that hurts Usyk. Clear Fury round.

    Fury 58 - 56 Usyk

    Round 7 - Fury

Scrapier round not much happening in the first minute. Usyk coming forward.
Fury lands another good uppercut but Usyk responds with a good left hand.
Good combination from Fury. Usyk finishes the round strong and as the aggressor but Fury gets the round just about.

    Fury 68 - 65 Usyk

    Round 8 - Usyk

Usyk ups the pace and lands a good left
Big shots from Usyk in the middle of the round. Lands another big left and Fury's nose is busted.

    Fury 77 - 75 Usyk

    Round 9 - Usyk

First minute of the round is close. Both landing a couple of good shots. Usyk starts to back Fury up more and land then BAM huge left hand from Usyk, Fury stunned. The shots keep coming and Fury is dancing around all over the place. Going down in the corner and the ropes keep him up. Usyk probably could have finished it. Brilliant from Usyk but also props from Fury to take that many shots and somehow stay on his feet. Usyk 10-8 round.

    Fury 85 - 85 Usyk

    Round 10 - Usyk

Usyk comes forward, Fury high guard and not throwing much still seems hurt. Usyk landing some more good left hands. Fury lands a good shot and looks to have cleared his head but a Usyk Round.

    Fury 94 - 95 Usyk

    Round 11 - Usyk

Good body shots by Usyk followed by a couple of good power shots. Fury lands a good uppercut but is not doing enough. Strong finish to the round from Usyk who lands a good left just before the bell.

    Fury 103 - 105 Usyk

    Round 12 - Even

Strong start from Usyk landing a good shot, pushes Fury on the backfoot again. Fury lands a good right. Both land good shots going into the final minute.
Fury lands a good right before Usyk lands his own. A very close round hard to split

    FINAL SCORE: Fury 113-115 Usyk

Summary: A lot closer rounds than I remembered in the first 4. Fury probably threw away the 1st round taking his foot of the gas and showboating which allowed Usyk to score punches. A close 2nd.
The story most people tell of this fight is Fury started to take over in round 3 however round 3 and 4 were still very close. Fury landed the more eye catching shots but Usyk was still pushing forward putting pressure on.
A good round 5 for Fury, Usyk looked hurt from a couple of body shots.
Round 6 even better from Fury, two uppercut hurt Usyk and Fury is starting to find his rhythm.
Round 7 was hard to split, but round 8 is the real turning point. Usyk needed a big round and got it, busting Fury's nose.
Round 9 is a classic. A cagey first minute but Usyk keeps applying pressure and gets his man. Shot after shot landing. Fury showed great heart to somehow not go down before he did. Saved by the ropes, though Usyk could have got another shot in and finished it. Personally I don't have a problem with the ref giving the count as the ropes kept him up but many people will argue that.
Round 10 Usyk lands more good shots, Fury seems to clear his head towards the end of the round. Round 11 Fury back to being competitive but Usyk lands more shots and is still controlling the pace and backing Fury up.
Round 12 was very hard to split both landing some good shots, Usyk still on the front foot but Fury came back well.
Overall a fantastic Undisputed Heavyweight Championship fight that was worth the wait.
For me the first 4 rounds were very close. The overall consensus is Usyk won the first 2 rounds but they were a lot closer than I remembered. The same with most people thinking Fury controlled round 3-7. He clearly won rounds 5 and 6 but 4 and 7 were close rounds.
Usyk took control from round 8 and finished strong as he always does. Coming close to the knockout in round 9 and dominating round 10.
Fury came back into the fight the final couple of rounds but still didn't do enough.
Usyk is relentless, continuously pushing forward and pressuring, he makes fighters work and tires them out. He also has more power than people give him credit for. He's ko'd Dubois, rocked AJ badly in their 1st fight and nearly knocked out Fury.
For me after the knockdown Fury didn't have enough left in the tank after the knockdown but still showed great heart and to me is definitely the #2 heavyweight in the division. Well he was after this fight, time will tell his position when we see his latest comeback. If he's like he was in this fight I personally think he beats AJ, Wardley, Bakole, Hrgovic, Zhang out of the top 10. Itauma would be a problem in a years time and Kabayel would be hard to call given his age.
As for Usyk I can't see anyone beating him unless they get him at the right time and he starts to decline.

Let me know your thoughts. Going to rewatch the 2nd fight tomorrow probably. Not watched that again since.

Watching the fights at the time, I actually thought the 2nd fight was closer than the 1st.
I had Usyk winning the 1st quite clearly. I didn't rate Fury's posing and posturing in the first 4 rounds, I thought Usyk won 3 of them at least. Fury had a good spell mid rounds 5-7 but that was it. It was mostly Usyk after, with a huge round in the 9th.

I rewatched both fights and just ended up sitting back to enjoy the art from two beautifull fighters.

Usyk edged both for me with his late game stamina, Fury wasted his opportunity in the 1st fight. He got uncharacteristically tired right at a moment when he should have been turning the screwdriver and backed off meanwhile Usyk was in the abyss a black hole and put his faith in god to keep perservering with his pressure gameplan against all logic and found the light at the end of the tunnel. Incredible.

Fury looked very calm in his corner through the 1st bout, maybe too calm having fun early, started to dominate then dropped the ball. Meanwhile Usyk looked like he'd been on the frontlines with a rather panicked corner but composed himself just fine for when the bell rung each time to find zen in war.

Both are gifted but ultimatly Usyk's discipline won out and deservingly so.

I didn't think either were particularly close. The first had a great pace to where it was close going into the later rounds of the fight, but Uysk pulled way ahead. Very good fight, and hats off to Fury, he was just beaten by a bigger legend with a gas tank and ring IQ that no heavy has a right to have.

The second was a stinker in which, to me, neither guy did much, but Usyk would get inside with a good combo or two and steal every round.

Yeah at the time I remember thinking the second fight was a clear Usyk win but will rescore today as I haven't watched it back since.

Uysk effectiveness wasn't as flashy as the first fight but it was still a top performance.

Agreed the first fight was the more entertaining fight though.

I had the fight close like you the first watch but then when the dust settled I had it a little wider. I think on re-watch I flipped the 12th to Usyk and possibly the third. I had it 114-113 live and moved it to 115-112 or 116-111 I can't remember

Fight two was 116-112 for Usyk upon re-watch, I did not score it live and watched it on my phone while at the bar with friends. I thought it was close live but that Fury let it slip. For me Fury's offense was very good in the first fight rocking Usyk a few times but he nearly got KO'd. In the second fight Fury cleaned up his defense but in turn lacked the offense of the first fight. So while he didn't nearly get KO'd or take as much punishment in the rematch, he also never quite had the same kind of success with his punches. I felt if he went for it more he could have eeked out a few more rounds on the cards. This may have opened him up though to a big left hand counter

Looking forward to the 120-108 x 2 Fury bros to join the discussion. After all, he's the GOAT, right?

Yeah, he did what he needed to do and won clean. We have no disagreement on that.

    I re-scored it recently myself.

    Rounds 1-2: Usyk
    Round 3: Even
    Rounds 4-7: Fury
    Rounds 8-10: Usyk, including 10:8 round 9
    Round 11: Even
    Round 12: Usyk

Depending on who you give even rounds to, Usyk can win anywhere from 116-111 to 114-113. Giving the fight to Fury is an aberration.

The second one Usyk won anywhere from 119-109 to 116-112.

When I watch rewatch both fights I see them wider than live.

Take for example the 1st fight I had 114-113 Uysk live then I rewatched it and scored it 115-112 Uysk.

12th round definitely Usyk round in my opinion. I watched it 3 times in slow motion.

Usyk outlanded Fury 2:1 there and landed bigger shots. The judges must have seen a different round, lol.

Round 11 was actually the closer round than 12 IMO.
