Lol,, R.I.P. Muratzaliev´s career, no way he comes back after this, no one decent is going to risk fighting him and he has no big promoter backing him.

He kinda did it to himself by taking those step aside fees all those years ago.

2 of the cards were fair, 115 was a bit too wide. Not necessarily a robbery, but still a lucky decision for Kelly.

 

I'm sure the American judge had something to do with it. LOL

 

TBF a MD isn't a robbery .. & it was back & forth, just contrasting styles .. Can't stand Kelly, but I've seen a lot worse decisions & i thought hed be pulverised here so i have to give him some props. Thought Murtazaliev would do better.

 

Alot of people also score for fighters who just land the odd shot on the back foot because 'that's boxing'

Decent scorecards tbf. Murtazaliev looked plodding and basic for a lot of that fight. He didn't come anywhere close to the expectations we had of him after the Tszyu fight and failed to show any real nuance or creativity to his work. Disappointing, really, but Kelly does deserve credit for being the man to show that when he was largely considered a lamb for slaughter.

 

Thought Kathy Duva was his promoter no?

 

If you compare Kelly's conditioning here to the Avanesyan fight it is night and day; you have to commend him for the improvements he has made. Having said that I disagree with the decision; I felt Murtazaliev swept the last few rounds, and if you factor in the KD, then Murt surely did enough.

Home decision - Kelly ran too much, didn't throw much, didn't land enough.

Referee could have scored another knockdown but he waved it off. And did anyone else notice how the referee took extra time running down the clock after the knockdown in the 9th round, to give Kelly extra time to recover? And the ref was too close to the fighters in the later rounds as if he wanted to protect Kelly.
