Oleksandr Usyk is the only Eastern European fighter to ever beat boxing.

    I love Usyk.

And it’s extremely difficult to envisage him losing, and especially against the guys who Wlad lost to.

But at the end of the day, nobody knows what would have happened, had he have turned pro much earlier and had 60-70 fights.

    Calzaghe?

    Beat the game?

As in - he was very cautious and unambitious, and managed to retire undefeated.

Personally, I wouldn’t call that beating the game.

Winning everything there is to win amateur and pro in your opponent's backyards on a deck stacked against you or on the road and doing so via the application of pure skill and clean boxing with zero use of dirty or illegal tactics, zero deck-stacking, zero weight bullying, no trying to weaken or cripple your opponents and gain big advantages at the negotiating table, with virtually no soft touches along the way and almost all of his opponents at the world level being in their prime, the oldest being 36, and not only never suffering a KD or getting stopped or knocked out, but never being badly hurt or in the slightest danger of going down whilst having run a murderer's row of KO artists and legit punchers, many way bigger than him, and going undefeated until at least 39 y/o ie. when way past his prime and he was already past his prime and almost 35 when he won his first HW title(s) is the definition of completing boxing and not only cannot any other Soviet brother boast the same but no other boxer in history can boast all of that.

Usyk might be the most ethical and honourable boxer ever. Just think of how many losses, KDs, and shaky moments even the greatest of his fellow greats would've suffered or how many more if them they would of just from not being able to hold excessively or use dirty tactics, or not having home advantage and a stacked deck in their favour? Almost all of those unofficial losses they had, and look at how many fighters have those on their CVs including the greatest of the greats, that should be official losses absolutely would be official ones without their stacked deck and home advantage and/or cheating.

And he has never stunk out the joint once in his entire career. Not only does he beat you up or outbox you or box your ears off on the front foot or by standing in front of you using lateral movement but even when he outboxes you on the backfoot he throws lots of punches via the use of legal tactics and pure skill whilst still taking risks and he does all of that vs murderous or big punchers his size not smaller, much or way smaller but many many times vs giants and murderous punching giants who are way bigger than him and not being mortally afraid of getting clipped by the wind of a punch and he will try to get you out of there if he hurts you even though it increases the chances of him getting caught and hurt and losing and even more impressive he still does it that way despite being 39 and way past his prime when other champions, great and ATGs wouldn't do it that way even in their primes or if they did so they much more risk averse and safety first with age.

Usyk hasn't just completed boxing he did so whilst treading a path few would ever tread and he has gone undefeated doing it that way for going on 17 years and it should be going on 18 and all the haters have to help them cope and to try and create imaginary Ls for him in his prime are hypothetical match ups from the realm of fantasy fights which FTR can never materialize into actual losses

They aren't his main rivals based on the public saying so. They have to prove it which they never did. Fury hadn't beaten a ranked opponent in years going into the Usyk fight and arguably lost to Ngannou in his prior fight.

Joshua is out due to all his losses anyway.

It sounds like you did. I had a training partner fighting on that card, Duncan Dokiwari, so I was there and I talked to Wlad’s cutman (Stitch) after the fight, he admitted that Wlad was messed up and they decided not to continue.
Wlad was winning before the knock down and since the cut happened early they could quit, blame it on the cut and still win.

Fun fact, Duncan got offered the fight before Williamson but priced himself out and managed to get knocked out against an opponent he was supposed to look good against.

Hasn’t beaten anyone great, or anyone even close to great in their prime.
Hard to judge but he’s hardly completed boxing

I agree with the first half, but second half is purse nonsense. Usyk moved to heavyweight and unified the division. I am sorry, but saying that this what should not be done is simply ridiculous. Sure, his recent actions have been bad given his inactivity and seeming disinterest in fighting any of the actual top contenders, but overall hes been good for the division.

I get the criticism, but to say that unifying the division is the opposite of what a good champion should do is simply ridiculous. Its an unprecedented achievement in the 4 belt era. First clear undisputed champ since Lewis.
Its heaps and bounds better than Wilder defending his WBC belt against bums and cherry picks for 10 fights in a row.

In this case the guys he unified with were ducking everyone for years. He didn't start the situation but hes made it worse. As another poster put it he "pulled the ladder up with him". Usyk has not done his job as champ and has been a horrible steward of the HW division. It is what it is. Theres dozens of qualified would be contenders who will never get that chance.

Its unprecedented because the "4 belt era" is 20 years and you had the 2 Klitschko situation and Furys shenanigans preventing earlier unification.

One difference between usyk & the rest of the eastern euros is that he was rarely at risk of a robbery in the US.

This is because the yanks have not had an elite heavyweight since Holyfield & the only decent one that was around was slain by the gypsy king, who himself nearly got a jobbing in the process.

Lomachenko, GGG & kovalev never had that luxury - all got robbed in America.

But theres an argument if he had to, he’d have gone over there & won convincingly enough not to get robbed

And Usyk was the one to make it happen. I just dont understand how now Usyk carries the burden of blame all of a sudden. If Fury, Joshua and Wilder were ducking everyone then how come Usyk is in the wrong for unifying the division?
How is his undisputed status worse than the other 3s championship runs?

The belts being split wasn't the problem. The line and unfought contenders was the problem. Usyk didn't solve the problem he just took over from Fury and AJ. The divisions under new management thats doing the same games. Wlad did not do the same games. Wlad did things properly. And was a true boxing champion who respected the time and effort of his peers. People could easy forget guys like Jarrell Miller or Hughie Fury even exists they've been collecting dust so many years.

Usyk also lost like 30 rounds in 8 fights. His lost round ratio for a long time champ is through the roof. Hes not dominant hes winning by the skin of his teeth most fights. Normally people take this for what it is. With Usyk we have to pretend hes a dominant champion. Hes not.

Ali lost a lot of rounds but Dubois is not George Foreman or Ron Lyle, Tyson Fury is not Ken Norton or Jimmy Young. Chisora is not Joe Frazier.

Wait, wait, wait... the problem is in Usyk loosing rounds? Damn, you have insane standards for champions. Holy ****! You genuinely hold against a champion for unifying the division and loosing rounds...
Amazing, truly, abso ****ing lutely amazing. I am almost at a loss for words here.

You are literally praising a man who lost via KO several times, was known for clinching almost as much as throwing punches, but Usyk loosing rounds is the big no-no here.

Yea, good luck with this rhetoric.

Did you say 20 defenses? At the rate he fights, he will be 59 years old before achieving that. Let's be serious here. LOL
