No heavyweight has ever moved like a prime Ali. None.

    He wouldn’t have.

This is casual fan type logic.

Jones was a fast former LHW, who was significantly smaller.

Even if you think he wasn’t a great fighter who Wlad could have crushed with ease, it has no bearing on an Ali-Wlad fight.

It’s like saying that Wlad had a good left hook, and that if Frazier and Cooper could drop Ali, then Wlad could have, as he was better than both of those guys.

    That’s not how it works.

    Styles make fights.

Cooper and Frazier were smaller and faster than Wlad, where they could get close up to Ali, on the inside.

Ali would have evaded Wlad’s left hook and jab much easier, because Wlad was bigger and slower.

The punches would have come from a different angle, from further away.

Ali would have had far more reaction time to have evaded it.

A prime Ali had amazing speed and reflexes, coming from a highly unorthodox style.

    He had great footwork.

It wouldn’t have been easy for a guy of Wlad’s size to have landed jabs on Ali.

You can’t even compare Doug Jones to a huge SHW like Wlad.

Which is a perfect example of the different stylistic match ups.

    Wait.

You mean that all HW jabs aren’t exactly the same?

    Who’d have thought?

    Ha!

    Danke.

I'm quite partial to the @Boxed Ears post about simultaneous dropping of fists from a significant height - what he missed out though, was that if a bear sh1ts in a wood and wipes it honey-stealing arse with a fluffy white rabbit and a tree falls but the blind guy's hearing aid battery is flat and he's wearing shock absorbing hiking boots, does a purple sky cry rainbow skittles?

    Yep. Didn't you know.

Marciano beat Louis so Povetkin beats a prime Louis too.

My favourite one is Ali never fought a guy as tall as Wlad and Jones outboxed him, but lost mind you, with the jab so of course Wlad wins on a thudding, but cautious jab. However, the context of Jones stepping in and being shorter and quicker than Wlad is lost.

Does anyone really think 67 Ali has any problem with Jones?

The contest would look like Carlos Monzon Vs Felix Sturm.

And you don't think this would trouble Ali? Someone who was never great at dealing with jabs and would be fighting someone that would never allow him the range that he could work comfortably at. Not hard to see why Ali would struggle here.

So you're basically saying Wlad wouldn't land any punch on Ali and Ali would Mayweather (potshot) Wlad the whole time to a UD? That's ridiculous. There's only 1 fight where Wlad wasn't able to control the fight (Sanders) before he was 39.

Wk looked awful against slick but old Thompson with with a bad knee.

At the time of stoppage wk had been outlanded in all 3 puch category.

They were both tired, but Wladimir has experience now, then he came back with a second wind," Klitschko trainer Emanuel Steward said. "I said Thompson would be one of the most difficult fights we will have.

If wk was struggling with slick Thomson what does that say about his chances against Ali .

Manny Stewart said to Wlad bewteen rounds when he was struggling with Williamson's movement - don't worry hes no Ali .

So Corrie Sanders and Ross Purity can smash his questionable chin from pillar to post but George Foreman couldn't?

So Morrison and Young could outbox Foreman but Wlad can't?
