I imagine 2019/2020 is probably when Wlad would have reached that stage had he kept going.

The irony in your posts is simply staggering.

Questioning people’s reading comprehension, and labelling people as being casuals etc.

    It’s cringeworthy.

    Are you trolling?

Noting Wlad’s fight against Tyson is extremely relevant.

The reason why you won’t discuss it, is because it just completely destroys your argument.

Wlad fighting Tyson, was not the same as Ali fighting Holmes etc.

That fight probably wouldn’t even have been sanctioned in the modern era.

Now if you want to use the Norton fights for your argument against Ali, then that is absolute fine.

    You can do that.

Now everyone here can absolutely use the Tyson Fury fight for analysis.

It is both fair and objective to do so.

Against Tyson, Wlad was the favourite.

He was still in great shape.

He’d also recently knocked out Pulev, who last week, YOU rated.

    He was also in Germany.

Not only that, he showed that he was still very competent, a few years later against AJ.

So that fight has huge relevance here.

Wlad was not shot. And nobody at the time said so. Nobody at the time even made reference to it.

Again, you won’t discuss the fight objectively, because it just destroys your argument.

Now Tyson did a complete psyche job on Wlad. Both inside and outside of the ring.

In the build up, he made Wlad shave his hair and have agressive outbursts where he swore. He made him act completely out of character.

Then in the ring, he sold him feint after feint.

And that was a version of Tyson, who’d barely done anything.

A HW who had no firepower.

Yet Wlad had a non committal jab, and didn’t fight him aggressively until the very last round.

Yet he did against AJ, 18 months later.

So that is crystal clear proof that Tyson’s character, style and mobility, had a huge effect on him.

Now that is the exact reason why we can use the fight as analysis.

So what do you think that Ali would have done?

A guy who psyched out the likes of Foreman.

A guy who crashed Liston’s training camp.

A guy who recited poetry to his opponents.

A guy who’d have gone at Wlad at every opportunity.

Then look at his unique speed and his highly unorthodox style.

So how convenient for you that you won’t include this in your analysis.

How convenient that you won’t look at match ups against the likes of Haye, Povetkin and Peter.

Four match ups that you won’t discuss, despite the fact that they were all part of his reign.

You then ask for a technical breakdown of how Ali could evaded jabs from a guy of Wlad’s size, like it’s a question that can’t be answered.

    Your posts are a JOKE.

You don’t even want to debate.

    Bingo.

He was flustered and frustrated against Tyson.

    No power.

    No aggression.

Yet 18 months later, he was powerful and agressive against AJ.

    I remember the threads.

We had genius like posters saying things like:

“Tyson would really have struggled against the AJ version of Wlad”

    Absolutely clueless.

Literally not even realising that he couldn’t fight like that against Tyson.

If you can't say what you mean to say in a few normals sentences then I have no time to engage with your rambling.

Not the whole story but a lot of people felt Fury beat the better version of Wlad than AJ equally. I can recall this over the years also.

If you can’t refute what I’ve said, the best thing to do is to go and hide for a few days.

If you could refute what I’ve said, then you would.

So be a man, and at least try.

This is such an embarrassing cop out for you.

I don’t think an old Thompson would negate any of their attributes and give them less of a fight than he did Wlad. We’ll have to agree to disagree on that. A prime Ali I can’t see getting hit by Thompson

I can’t see Ali v old Thompson blowing and admitting after the fight that it was much harder than he thought it’d be.
Thompson was pretty good but he’s not giving Ali much trouble.
This thread seems to be based on Wlad being faster than Ali which is absurd. He was stiff and often gun shy and only had one gear, the punch and grab.
Ali is light years ahead of Wlad. Even if he wasn’t to say Wlad was faster or anywhere near as fast is absurd

Mildenberger gave prime Ali some trouble and Thompson is like ten times better then him lol

I don't think anyone here has seriously said Wlad was faster besides one guy trolling. The basis of my argument is his range control and jab two things that Ali would def struggle with. Wlad has shown the ability to deal with faster smaller fighters but Ali has never shown the ability to deal with a large, technical and disciplined SHW like Wlad is.

Personally I think Ali's decline was much more dramatic. No comparison to my eyes. And he wss also the only one of them who might have had Parkinsin's for years by this point.

And Ali won and forced Young to embarrass himself by duxking out of the ropes. Wlad was almost shut out against Fury.

I think that Ali's speed and headmovement, combined with footwork are sufficient to take the authority out of Wlad's jabbing, make him more economic and cautious with it.

Ali dealt with the Liston and Terrell jabs perfectly fine. Your narrative is not substantiated by the footage.

Even then, pray tell, what's the first punch any fighter learns when they first step into the ring as a young wide-eyed boy? What's the one punch that pretty much any out boxing fighter practices so what is the one punch that you expect to be caught with more?

Is it easier to slip a jab when you're shorter, faster of feet and have great headmovement, reflexive speed and an elite radar for distance negotiation and pattern reading or is it easier to become tentative when you fight someone who is significantly quicker than you, more battle proven than you and your style is based around protecting/hiding your chin and your opponent has a proven ability to find a chin?

You like Wlad, I get it - but a simple Wlad can jab really good and Ali didn't like dealing with jabs is extremely reductionist and doesn't leave room for the context of how a jab is used stylistically.

Beyond that, the premise of the thread is most problematic style for Ali to deal with - the fighters who don't let him breathe and set a rhythm, work the body over and crowd his space ala Marciano and Frazier and then ability to counter with devastating shots ala early rounds Tyson present the truest jeapordy for Ali. Wlad isn't bringing anything like a Futch or a D'Amato game plan or skillset - he has a lot to hurt Ali with, but using Frazier, Norton, Cooper or Jones is stylistically inappropriate tbh.

Another example of your staggering irony.

Another cop out because you can’t refute what’s being said.

    What a clown you are.

All we see from you is:

    “In his reign…..in his reign…”

Tyson was part of his reign.

    As was Povetkin and Peter.

Now tell us specifically why we can’t use the Fury fight, when:

    Wlad was still the champ

He’d just knocked out a HW who you rate

    He was the favourite

    It was in Germany

Why can’t we use the fight as analysis??

Answer that question, which is like you: SIMPLE
