I'd say Fury, without a doubt. The Gipsy King has never been defeated by stoppage in his career. He's been knocked down a few times but never knocked out. Klitschko has been defeated several times before the limit precisely because of his unbreakable jaw.
Nope not having that mate. JMM was my favorite fighter and a top 5/10 Mexico of all time. Not having Fury's name in the same sentence as Marquez.
I can see the comparison....but still not having it lol. To get knocked down 3 times in round 1 and comeback to draw and arguably have won against in some people's eyes the p4p world no 1 was an extraordinary feat. Then have another 3 fights with him on top of having 60+pro fights and win world titles in 4 different divisions is legendary. Fury was a cracking fighter but also a tad overrated. Still he had very good recuperate skills.
Usyks power is misleading He varies the speed and power of his shots Usually he don't put full power into it but if he does he can hurt you. He's really not that small looks at him next to Joshua he's pretty tall and he's pretty muscular and there's a lot of guys heavier than him that are just carrying fat when hes 225 lean Also stamina impacts perceived power if it's round 8 the other guy is tired and Usyk is pretty fresh then his full power shot is going to hurt. Look at Mayweather wobbled cotto in round 12 when he was a lot fresher and cotton was tired even if he doesn't have big power
My 2 ¢ents: just tbh, I thought wlad was showing a display of histrionics while aj was pummeling him. BUT after seeing AJ's power in the Jake Paul fight, I realize those are concussive punches that wlad caught! I mean he ripped dudes jaw in half
Probably Wlad. Chin and powers of recovery are two different things. Fury actually is very chinny, but his powers of recovery are insane. People say Joshua is chinny, but I think they're wrong. He's been knocked down in only 3 fights. But when he gets caught proper, he can't recover.
To be fair, Fury's had a lot of good fortune with referees, that a lot of lesser fighters wouldn't have been granted. A lot of referees would've stopped the first Wilder fight with that second knockdown. He was out for a few seconds, and it still astounds me til this day that he was able to come to, and just get up like nothing had happened. He was fortunate not to be stopped on that cut in the Wallin fight, it kept getting checked by the doctor, and like I say, a lesser fighter would've definitely received a different outcome. And the first Usyk fight, I'm still amazed Usyk didn't get the finish when Fury was literally out on his feet and staggering all over the ring, not knowing where he was. It was actually pretty scary to watch... that's the most hurt I've ever seen him. Again, it's not very often you ever see a fighter in that much distress and not get stopped.
I think they both have equally terrible chins. It's surprising that such big, strong fighters are knocked down so easily. There should be a scientific explanation.
Reasonable points. However, let's not pretend that Wlad didn't enjoy referee advantages in his career as well. The main focus here is chin (and to a lesser extent recovery prowess). I don't see Wlad getting up after most of the knockdowns Fury got, and Wlad is still the only one out of the two to be stopped multiple times. As for the Usyk knockdown, I'm astounded how well Fury seemed to passively move to ride the punches. Usyk was still too quick, but any other fighter would have been caught and knocked out cold. Truly a tremendous display from both fighters there.
Wladimir Klitschko went through 20 consecutive world title fights without being knocked down from 2006 through 2015. How many consecutive fights has Fury gone without being knocked down? Fury was knocked down by boxing novice Ngannou and by Cunningham. Wladimir Klitschko has the better chin.
@Perkin Warbeck I don't think so. After started training with Steward, nobody could get past Wlad's shield and landed on him. If they could, they would knock him out, because Wlad really has a glass chin.
