Tommy Morrison resume

Tommy lived a pretty wild life. I'm not surprised about him shooting those guys but I am surprised that I hadn't heard about it until now. What caliber?

 

a lot of his wins seem to be compared to others to add credibility, like how he knocked out james tillis fast who went the distance with mike tyson. seems like when he hit people with the big shot and they didnt stay down he would get stressed

 

He looks great against Thomas, pretty good against Mercer, but he didn't win against Purritty, was on the boards twice against C. Williams, and almost lost to Razor. He looked really bad against Bennt and Lewis. His resume isn't good.

 

It’s about on par with Bermane Stiverne’s resume, but Tommy was never a top 3 guy with a real belt and a title defense.

 

Morrison was, what he was. An exciting, big punching, highly commercial brawler. It was a hell of a ride, and he would’ve entertained in any era. Nobody makes him out to be an ATG. One of those fighters who made the 90’s heavies incredibly watchable.

 

Add Joe Hipp and Carl Williams in there as well, decent wins where Tommy had to get off the mat and show good heart.

Rewatched the Ruddock fight earlier and I think it was stopped prematurely (though not some end all be all robbery), Razor likely would've finished him off if it continued, just as he would've if they fought prime for prime.

Tommy was a talented guy but lacked certain things (chin, stamina, consistency) that really would've made him achieve more. He did about the best he could've without investing more time in training.

 

His resume wasn’t very good. But he was exciting to watch. A glorified fringe contender but one who at least entertained.

 

Tommy had real talent but lacked discipline. A good trainer could've made him much better but with his outside life and lack of consistency I don't know if anyone could have truly turned him around. He was an ATG puncher no question about that.

 

As an actor he was a great fighter, and as a fighter he was a great actor.

 

One of my favourites. Regardless of skill level, Tommy always left it out there and came to fight. The Foreman fight actually showed he could box and follow a plan...but 99 times out of 100 Tommy liked to swap leather and damn the consequence. The antithesis of the safety first cerebral fighters we now laud as 'exciting'...

With a gunslinger like Tommy Gunn, you were going to get an interesting fight — and one where you never quite knew how it would turn out. It made him must-watch to me.

 

Yes, this is what it was .He was an entertaining guy in a great era.

 

The fact he could come back from such a devastating ko to Mercer was incredible. Ko guys that get brutally ko'd just do not come back with much effectiveness. Morrison did and that sure does get overlooked.

 

Yes, but his jaw wasn't as strong anymore. I think he was down twice with Williams, three times with Bent, and twice again with Purritty, who should have gotten the decision. He also was down with a battered Ruddock, and finally got finished by Lennox, who was basically the only ATG to fight him in top form.

He had the potential to be bigger, but his resume isn't impressive. Hell, even Jesse Ferguson has Mercer and Douglas, but he's not half as well-known as Morrison.
