Daniel "Unlimited title shots" Dubois

The actual world champion is Usyk, everyone knows it. Dubois is getting a shot at a belt, but no one in their right mind would recognize him as the actual legitimate heavyweight king.

 

I also get the feeling that they are trying to write Dubois into being the face of heavyweight boxing. While I'll give him credit for being better than I'd thought, I have to agree with OP that they're trying to make a sausage with a stocking.

 

The problem is, none of the leftovers do - there's very few around the top and they're all a bit... Cardboard...

And if Itauma actually makes it up the levels and turns out to have a chin and gas tank - he makes Dubois look positively intellectual.

 

The fact that a B-rate fighter like Dubois is so close to the world level at HW shows just how dreadful this era actually is. A Euro-level at best fighter who headbutts his way into golden opportunities and gets paid a fortune for it. I can see Wardley taking his head off, but it is an exciting fight between two heavy hitters. Much better HW matchup than Usyk against Jean Claude Van Damme or whoever the hell he's got lined up next.

 

Dubois has a Glass Jaw.

 

There's only really these HW's that could be classed as due a shot at the title.

Kabayel
Parker
Ajagba
Gassiev
Torrez
Hrgovic
Chisora

But, Kabayel is WBC interim so that rules him out.

Wardley has just beat Parker

Gassiev is WBA regular champ

Chisora was offered the fight but signed to fight Wilder instead

So only Ajagba, Torrez, Hrgovic would have been better really.

But Dubois has is british, signed with Warren too, is known, young, exciting to watch, proven, and will sell more tickets and get more tv ratings than the others, so I completely understand the choice.

It's a great must watch match up on paper, you'd have to expect excitement and knockdowns.

 

Weak era blah blah. It's like you overcritical HW division haters don't even know what a weak era is. Legit examples of a weak division right now are Middleweight and Welterweight.

There was nothing 'euro level' about Dubois' destruction of Joshua. A Euro level fighter just wouldn't beat Joshua and Hrgovic

 

How on earth is Ajagba and Gassiev due a title shot??!!

 

He didn't beat Hrgovic in my eyes; he should've been disqualified, and Joshua has been absolutely shot to bits for years. Usyk's demolition of him x2 shows how limited he is at the world level. World-level fighters don't make Joe Joyce look like Larry Holmes.

 

I'm not even convinced he would have beaten current AJ in a rematch. If Joshua doesn't get caught cold early again he probably wins that fight. Even after being battered for 5 rounds straight he managed to hurt Dubois right before he got KO'd.

 

That previously mentioned Jab that knocked out DDD was one of a trilogy of heavyweight horror shows that have happened in the current ERA. In chronological order, these are the ones I feel make the all-time great heavyweights spin like tops.

1 the Klitschko Fury fight. No need for commentary on this one.

2 Anthony Joshua spouting complete and utter gibberish on the microphone after losing to Usyk.

3 DDD falling to a jab from one of the lighter hitting heavyweight champions of all time.

 

It's a banger and that's enough.

 

Usyk landed it at an angle, right on the chin. Pretty much a rapier-like hook hitting the sweet spot.

 

Dubois doesn't deserve the title shot when theres so many waiting but the nickname is unfair. When you look at guys like Joe Walcott, Holyfield and John Ruiz Dubois really isn't there yet.

I can see Dubois getting showered in title shots he doesn't deserve because in a few years he'll be the only HW in the division with name recognition. I can see that happening. But as of right now hes won all his world title fights except Usyk. Still shouldn't get the title shot but thats more based on the situation.
