Archie Moore vs Evander Holyfield at 190 and Michael Spinks at 175: Does he stay undefeated?

Could Moore go 2-0? If anyone could, Moore could. He fights 1983 Spinks at 175 and 1987 Holyfield at 190.

 

Moore would be beaten soundly by either. These were super athletes highly trained and brought along over years and at their peaks?? Sorry Moore was really good for an older guy but he never fought guys like this in their primes. The closest thing would be Patterson and you see how that worked out for Archie. It was a disaster.

 

Are you always on? Even if both beat Moore, no way would it be non competitive. I don't see how one reasonably comes to that conclusion. It's ridiculous to say Moore has no chance. He has a good chance to beat either.

 

Go back and watch the Patterson Moore fight it was the next year after Moore fought Marciano. It was a total no contest for 5 rounds then he iced Moore with 1 punch. KOd. Patterson would be beaten decisively by either Holyfield or Spinks. Sorry just one man’s opinion but seems very clear to me.

 

Moore was 41 or 42 or 43 in the fight vs Patterson

 

It’s not impossible . Michael Spinks was a master at 175 but so was Archie Moore. And Evander was still somewhat green at cruiser and not fully built up yet. So yeah, it’s conceivable ( but not guaranteed ) that he could have beaten both of those guys at those given weights. Moore was both a great puncher AND a proven fifteen round fighter. He faced men of just about every given style there is and was disciplined when it came to training which is why he lasted well into his forties and was still competitive.

 

How would you see Moore winning?

 

Both of those guys were pretty hard to knockout throughout their careers and neither were ever stopped or floored at their original weights. So I’m thinking Archie would have to outwork and outsmart both for a decision. His power would be enough to get their attention and keep them honest though

 

Yes he could. Early CW Holyfield wasn't the refined version of himself hat we remember today. He wasnt that elite athlete and superior boxer with full skillset, ring iq and the opportunity of making adjustments. I think Archie will outsmart him most of the time. Still sure Holyfield will give him a hell of a fight.

I think M. Spinks is widely underrated and also could be all wrong for Archie stylewise But still: Archie will setup some traps for counters and in the end he has all the tools and the smarts to deal Spinks.

Moore - Holyfield 65/35
Moore - Spinks 55/45
So like 35-40% chance Archie will win both in a row
