I am unsure about not being allowed to spar, but rumor has it that Clownelo was going pretty hard against former champ Javier Jauregui during a sparring session. Unfortunately, there isn't a clear cut picture of what happened that day, so your guess is as good as mine.
Too many internet fools think just saying "Overrated" means anything. Without context, it's a pointless statement.
Absolutely NO ONE ignored Brooks v 3G or JMM v Floyd. That's because those fights don't have anything to do with Canelo's career.
That's silly to even suggest. But here's the thing, any fighter you HATE has the worst fans in the history of the sport. That's usually how it goes. And it's a pointless statement which you can never back up with anything solid.
No, it's every cash cow who's ever boxed and has the ability to pick and choose that are held to a higher standard than regular boxers who can't do that. Canelo chose to face Khan. Floyd chose to face JMM. 3G fought Brook who was a last week replacement. When who you fight is always up to you, you will be scrutinized more than a boxer who fights who he can get.
He's one of the rare examples of an overachiever in boxing. In comparison to his talent, anyway. Usually it's the opposite. Dedicated and skilled with amazing career handling, alongside a few lucky scorecards. Although I personally had him actually winning the Lara bout by one point (terrible bout in any case).
Fanboys claiming he was the best are nauseating. In his prime, he clearly lost to a well past prime GGG. He is clearly not as good as GGG. He got completely outclassed by Bivol in a cherrypick gone wrong - even the judges couldn't get him that win as it was so one sided. Ducked a bunch of guys who would have caused him big problems, Benavidez being a good example. Basically Canelo ****ed the sport of boxing.
Does anyone even remember that Floyd brought JMM up two weight classes from 135 and then missed weight, paying a fine to compensate JMM? Floyd probably would have lost to JMM if they were equally prepared at the same weight. Does anyone remember Canelo's PED use, and his very obvious body transformation? What about his very strange win over Kovalev? So many question marks.
WE should rate them differently if some of there wins are actually losses, and rate the true winner differently.
That fight was so one sided there was absoultey nothing you could take from that fight to suggest if they were the same weight floyd would have lost, floyd was also coming off a 2 year retired lay off and won litteraly every single round, it was a complete shut out, not even remotley competetive, I could understand if floyd this big strong big puching welter weight that actualy uses his size in fights like an errol spence or something but he's not, He's well known for walking around at dam near fight weight while everybody else gains 20lbs overnight and he's know for not being a big puncher. weight had a miniscule bearing on that fight. If it was somewhat competetive i could take your argument seriously but it was a complete and utter shut out.
If we listen to fanboys, every single boxer is overrated. As annoying as Canelo got in his diva days, he still fought a lot of top guys. But he should have a few more losses to his ledger.
