Prime Chocolatito Gonzalez vs Inoue

I think it has to be Inoue. Choc was great 105-112, but he fell apart at 115. Inoue cleared out 118/122, so you have to think he's probably in a different tier than Choc. Unless you think Choc would have dominated 118/122, but I don't see how you'd arrive at that conclusion.

 

Light Flyweight - Gonzalez. Super Flyweight - Inoue.

 

This is it. Chocolatito was a ****ing terminator from 105 - 112, all the way up to the Villoria bout. There are very few in history who beat him around these weights imo. There's a reason team Inoue made young Naoya skip 112 back in the day.

 

105 - 112 Choco. 115 - Inoue

 

You must be kidding. Choc was at 115 at the time and Choc openly said he wouldn’t fight Inoue.

 

Choco didn't move up to 115 until he fought Cuadras in 2016. Inoue moved up to 115 from 108 (skipping 112) when he fought Narvaez in 2014 iirc. This was around the time Choco was at his absolute peak against Yaegashi and destroying everyone. Team Inoue wisely wanted no part of Choco until it was clear he was past prime and past his best weight, which was a good thing as Inoue wasn't fully developed by this point and would've been exposed

 

When did Gonzalez ever say that? In 2017 there were talks for a Gonzalez-Inoue fight, but they were derailed after the Rungvisai fights.

 

Gonzalez said Inoue’s purse offer wasn’t enough, despite Inoue regularly main evening a 10k arena at that time while Cuadras wasn’t nowhere near as popular.

Are you really gonna say inoue was looking to fight a 29 year old undefeated fighter because he was past prime? Come on. Choc ducked him. He just wasn’t good enough to be the best at 115. His skills don’t change because he went up 3 pounds.

The link doesn't work on my end, but I will take your word on Gonzalez' dissatisfaction with the supposed purse. But you have to consider this: Gonzalez at that point was the more well known commodity in boxing and even in Japan. He won his first title in 2008, had multiple fights in the country, and was promoted by a Japanese fighter. Gonzalez was the A side in an Inoue fight, so you would have to expect he would want a decent enough purse for the fight.

Cuadras was a champion and probably a tougher opponent than Narvaez was.

 

At 108 lbs Chocolatito is a absolute beast.

at 115 lbs on the same period 2015-2017 Chocolatito too.

At 118 lbs it's different Naoya Inoue become on his prime and Inoue will smash Cuadras, Estrada, Chocolatito and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai
