Hard to say. There was still 10 rounds left in that fight. Not sure Tszyu ends it or even wins. I mean, a lot of things can happen. Just watch Papa Tszyu against Judah. Judah beat pops convincingly in that 1st round then bam, everything changed. So, Can't really say for certain Tim would have won based off the 1st few rounds. But Tim was looking good before the cut.

 

Valid points but Tim was on from the word go the likeliest of outcomes would have been a Tszyu win at least on points.

 

Tszyu looked verrrrrrrry comfortable and was moving forward, landing meaningful shots. Without that knife elbow I think Fundora gets stopped. Tszyu was just too zoned in. The cut will literally be an example for all trainers over the next 5-10 years of what NOT to do - it was horrific corner management

 

The corner did a terrible job. In my opinion, they should have never taken that fight. Tszyu trained for an old, inactive Thurman and ends up fighting a 6ft 6in guy in Fundora. Then follow that up by fighting Murtizaliev. One bad decision after another.

 

Not to mention that Murtazeliev fight was on a quick turnaround. None of it made sense.

 

I honestly believe by the time Tim got to the Fundora rematch he was exhausted. One tune up against Joey Spence between back to back brutal fights was not enough time to recover.

 

A unified 160 A-grade operator vs a fringe 154 contender? Sergio makes him look pretty daft, I think. Tsyzu is defensively inept at the elite level. Bakhram could've closed his eyes and hit him with that left hook; it was one of the most horrible fights of the decade up to now, so horrifically one-sided and stopped too late. I don't see how Maravilla couldn't figure him out.

 

it would not be very competitive. tim is world class, but he lacks some things. things that have nothing to do with the beatings hes taken.

 

Yep. I can see why he took it. He didn't want to to waste his preparation and the opportunity. We wouldn't be saying this if not for the cut imo. But it was still a bone headed move for the reasons you mentioned.
