I don't think Mayweather vs De La Hoya was controversial tbh even though it was a split decision. I had Floyd winning it narrowly by two rounds. I was going for Oscar at the time as well.

I remember the first decision that had me up in arms as a sports fan and a boxing fan was the Floyd Patterson – Jimmy Ellis fight in 1968. The fight was for Ellis’ share of the heavyweight championship. There were no judges. The referee scored the fight nine rounds to six in favor Of Ellis. I was 11 years old and I scored the fight 9–6 for Patterson.

I had been scoring fights for three years and I didn’t always agree with the judges or referee in this case. What angered me so much was that I could not find a way for Ellis to win eight rounds let alone nine.

To this day, the result is considered controversial. I have not watched the fight since then. I think that might be something fun to do this week.

Just read de La hoya landed 100 more punches than. MOSELY in their second fight? Is this true. Yet they gave Mosely the nod. Disgraceful if correct.

someone needs to make a hobby for themselves, you started how many threads this evening? Also, in boxing, the rule is the referees count. It doesn’t have to be 10 seconds perfectly, it’s the referees own count.

These discretionary interpretations, inserted in all sports regulations, allow for corruption to flourish.

Jeff Fenech v Azumah Nelson 1 is one of the biggest robberies of all time.
Uncle Jeff easily won 9 or 10 rounds and got hosed on the cards.

    Far too many.

Even stretches to the amateurs in the 88' Olympics where Lennox Lewis 'beat' Riddick Bowe and Park Si-Hun 'beat' Roy Jones Jr

I bet if you and I counted to 10, our counts won’t be exactly the same

Briedis vs Glowacki is very good for the thread. Glowacki was never the same after this fight.

Laurent Dauthuille vs Jake Lamotta II, before committed suicide, Laurent Dauthuille said many times to his family that he was vomiting blood and urinating blood before the fight as a result of the food and water he was given before the fight.

I remember also Carlos Cuadras vs Chocolatito the fight was a way more close than the scorecards suggested, but Chocolatito was far more popular than the Mexican so there was no controversy and no rematch between the two of the fourth kings.

DLH - Mayweather is not controversial in my opinion, Mayweather clearly won the fight. Mayweather vs. Castillo 1, DLH - Mosley 2, and DLH - Sturm had controversial verdicts in my opinion. Lewis - Holyfield 1 is a large robbery, as is Hagler - Antuofermo 1. Gomez - Lockridge, Norton - Young, and Ali - Young were also controversial verdicts.
