He was concussed and still had Dubois a little buzzed.

Anyone else cringe when he puts Tyson up there like with Zhang?

I'm just going off punching power only. Apart from that, they're obviously completely different fighters in pretty much every way; size, stamina, success, age they started making headlines etc, I know that.

Sorry - my message came across as quite snarky.

I just never really had Tyson down as an ATG one-and-done power puncher. I never hear that opinion here, either.

He obviously hit hard but his devastation came from overwhelming guys with raw aggression and speed.

Guys like Vlad and Zhang hit harder. How could they not with all that weight and leverage? Obviously not that it is that simple, but it would seem to be a precondition having at least one of those physical traits.

Wilder is a weird one being so light but having those long arms obviously assisted.

I think his power is most evident and effective when he puts two or three together. Getting caught in one of his combos has been the end of many. His punches are really powerful but not the kind of 'Hail Mary' powerful that some boxers build a world-level career around in spite of huge gaps elsewhere. He's not amongst the one-hit mega punchers.

I remember during one of Deontay Wilder's fights Adam Smith talking about his 'freakish strength'. That always stuck with me. AJ's punches are strong but not freakishly strong.

AJ needed his huge natural size and stature, his gym built musculature/athleticism, reasonably well-rounded (but flat and orthodox) fundamentals, strong Olympic base AND his power and opponent selection to achieve what he did.

Freaks like DW and his chicken-legs managed it with the power and opponent selection alone. Well, and that bronze I guess.

Meanwhile I hear that Paul is back in hospital for yet another jaw-restoration operation ;)

Joshua needed countless punches to stop the old Pulev, his power is overrated, I don't count Paul because I don't consider him a professional fighter.

Yeah but he only broke his jaw because his mouth was hanging wide open like an idiot. Actually this is such a bad example because Jake Paul wasn't even hurt he was laughing at it and got up like nothing even happened.

    It is overrated

He has very good power don't get me wrong it's just not that one punch end the fight type knockout power like Wilder, Zhang, Dubois, Wladimir Klitschko, Lennox Lewis, Tommy Morrison, Tua, Shavers, Foreman, Tyson etc

    Cap

Wilder only does that once his opponent is hurt

His one-two is very technically sound

Look at what he did vs Fury 1st fight, Ortiz 2, Braezele, Spilka

Joshua is obviously a more fluid combination puncher

I don't think AJ's power is overrated at all. But maybe AJ's own ability to take shots has gone down the drain. I don't even think he has a glass chin, but maybe a glass heart.
