Id say for most it's Michael Spinks, but which other guys got taken out faster than expected?

Other than Spinks for me, the answer is Larry Holmes. He had never been stopped and with that long reach I thought he’d be able to keep Tyson at bay for a longer period of time and maybe make it to the final bell. However, Tyson overwhelmed Larry and he didn’t last four rounds.

I expected Larry to at least get to the halfway mark.
That was a great performance from Mike.

I was waiting for Tyson to be wrapped in that cocoon of horror.

Berbick was a tough nut to crack, so the fact Mike knocked him out in 2 was unexpected.

    Why though?

He wasn't in the right shape to face Tyson - nowhere near.

In name alone yes, greatness yes, but actual relative condition come fight night- Larry wasn't ready and Tyson was too punishing of fighters that weren't equipped.

We weren't aware of his condition going in tho really.
He'd never been stopped in his career,he was a tough guy.
I thought it would last a little longer.

True, but I would say any man of his age, given his lengthy career, struggles with Spinks and absence from the ring was nowhere near ready to face Tyson, whether we have seen him prior to actual fight night or not.

I didn't expect him to win mate.
Just perhaps hold Tyson off for a little longer.
I thought Spinks may have lasted a little longer too, didn't see that coming!

Savarese. The point of him being there was for Tyson to finally get some rounds in.

    Fairs.

I'm probably being a bit of Hindsight Henry.

I think Holmes with a few fights under his belt probably expects to last a few more rounds, however, in my mind, Larry needs mobility and better conditioning to be competitive with that version of Mike.

Holmes would need to be at his absolute peak to beat prime Mike. No version of Holmes post 1982 beats him, let alone 1988.
