How do you not get it? Casuals are the first to eat this crap up. Floyd retiring didn't make him a no-name all of a sudden. And Pac is known worldwide. If you think this will bomb or no one will watch it, you haven't been paying attention.

Pac fought for a world title. A Meaningful fight, That definitely helps him. He's got the recent experience. He's in the process of finalising an exhibition fight before the Floyd fight as well. He's had several exhibitions too during his time off.

Floyd's 1 fight is closer to 10 years too... that's a long ass time man.

I agree, but if Pacquiao couldn’t beat him 10 years ago, he’s not beating him now, not unless Mayweather is totally shot, which is a possibility, but I don’t think he would come back for a professional fight against him if he couldn’t handle it

Floyd hasn't fought a real boxing fight in 10 years. If you want to call the McGregor fight a real boxing he didn't look amazing and probably loses to Manny even then. This was way back in 2017. So 8 years.

Being gone 10 years or even 5 years is a much bigger deal then being 50 years old and no one who comes back after half that layoff for a title shot wins. Foreman came back at 38 and he needed an extensive rust removal campaign before fighting an elite fighter much less fighting for a title. Manny has been waiting to get WW title shots from a champion like Barrios whose looking for an easy title defense against a big name. Hes still a serious fighter. Boxrec has him ranked 30th at WW. Floyd has no chance.

Floyds a point fighter who needs to win rounds too and thats the skillset that ages the worst. Floyd might win a round or two hes more likely to get shut out and stopped in like the 5th round.

Furthermore even if we were to take age at face value 47 v 49 is a pretty substantial gap. In a fighters late 40s every year is an ocean. A boxer being "good" at 45 is rare but semi common. Its a small percentage of the population and most aren't going to win championships but we still see a lot of good 45 senior fighters. At any given time theres quite a few floating around. Being good at 50 is almost unheard of and is a historic thing. And your Archie Moores and Bernard Hopkins who were good at 50 were not coming off no breaks either they were full time fighters.

 

Floyd should still win unless he is completely shot to bits, he's the bigger man with a pretty huge reach advantage which is an even more significant advantage now with them both close to 50. They'll both be alot slower but Floyd's physical advantages will still be there.
