Who is greater P4P George Foreman or Gennady Golovkin?

Your posts are the equivalent of bovine spongiform encephalopathy.

Well you see, that would indicate that a champion dominating said division would naturally rank higher than a guy that didn't dominate the weaker division.

That, of course, is debatable. Middleweight was just fine when Golovkin fought. It is the regular feature that great fighters that dominate make their competition look ordinary. Foreman never had it in him to make his competition look ordinary.

Foreman managed to do well for himself in a division full of midgets and guys that he outweighed. Many of the guys he beat were middling boxers at best. Yet, because his fight game was full of holes, he got taken to school by the guys that could box worth a lick.

Meanwhile Golovkin beat a bunch of champions and guys that had proved their worth against champions. He had to actually pay challengers extra so that they'd take their mandatory shots.

And it is my opinion that many other heavyweights could have done what Foreman did against his opposition and even bettered it. Can you imagine Vitali or Lewis in that field? Que massacre.

In the 90's he was nothing special size wise. Maybe slightly above average. There's a reason he didn't do as well in the 90s as in the 70s and age is only part of the reason. In the 70s he was a big dude, and it showed.

If you are alluding to Ali, Foreman disgraced himself by pounding his guy on the ropes for the entire fight and failing to put a dent in him. So much for the galactic punching power. More like a result of a zero-IQ fight plan. Yet another demonstration of Golovkin's superiority as a boxer. When GGG cornered guys on the ropes he tore them apart.

Golovkin spent a lot of time in the amateurs.

Who knows indeed! If GGG had had an extra 3-4 years prime, Canelo wouldn't have been able to wait him out until he got old. Golovkin might easily have had the scalps of guys like Martinez, Cotto and Sturm hanging from his belt. Instead they were able to duck him.

For me, that's not the true idea of P4P. It's not the critieria on which serious lists are constructed. You inflate or shrink a fighter...they are no longer that fighter.

P4P worth comes down to relative excellence.

 

Foreman's top wins are far better than Golovkin's. Give me the demolitions over Joe and Ken everyday over the lukewarm opposition Golovkin handled in that WBA reign.
