There were far less world titles back then and fighters were much more active, so slightly over the limit non title contests were common. Both weighed 136.5lbs the first time SRR beat Angott. Angott beat the excellent Lew Jenkins to become the LW world champion a few months later.

SRR beat the decent Joe Ghnouly whilst weighing 135lbs 2 and a bit months prior.

 

The first Angott fight was at 147.

No. You just listed two fights that were contested at welterweight.

 

So the fights where he does not make 135 are part of his 147 resume.

 

Boxrec says the fights were contested at Lightweight.

 

That isn’t how the rules work.

I think a non title fight contested at 136.5lbs, involving the #1 ranked LW contender, who won the LW title a few months later, is better assigned to said boxers LW resume, than WW resume.

However, if you apply the literal cut off, that's fair enough. For you, Angott 1 contributes to SRR's WW resume.

Either way, a green SRR beating the #1 LW contender, an all time top 20 LW who won the title a few months later, adds significantly to his career resume from a p4p ATG ranking perspective, having been contested at 136.5lbs just the same as it would were it contested at 135lbs.

If anything, Angott, who was a natural LWW at his best, would have been grateful for those extra 1.5lbs.

 

Doesn't matter anyway, 136-160 is still equal to 130-154.

 

It is, though SRR won multiple bouts contested above 160lbs, the highest being contested at 171lbs, the highest against world level opposition being fought at around 165lbs, including against Robert Villeman, Cecil Hudson and future #1 contender at LHW, Gerhard Hecht.

Even the superb Georgie Abrams was 162lbs when SRR beat him shortly after winning the WW title.
