We'd have seen if Winky didn't decline a career high payday.

In my opinion Wright would have won. I think we would have seen a match similar to the one against Sturm (in which the judges gave a gift to Oscar, who was supposed to face Hopkins. I say this because for me Sturm clearly won that match, and not just for me).

Obviously, De La Hoya - Wright would have been a very interesting fight. I'd say Winky but clearly the result it could have been different, as always when two champions face each other. Wright was a much avoided boxer during his career, he was strong but didn't bring in much money. Even today Winky has sweet words for Mosley, who decided to fight him (losing twice and thus saying goodbye to the match with Trinidad, who was also defeated by Wright).

I also think Mayweather would have won against De La Hoya. And Dan Rafael wrote something absolutely right, something that the Mayweather haters I read on social media should understand (and they should also understand how to judge a boxing match): "There were some close rounds, but Mayweather was the clear winner."
That was still a very good performance by Oscar, against one of the best boxers of all time, four years younger than him.

Can’t look at Oscar the same way after that Netflix documentary. He’s a headcase and has serious mental issues.

couple of his "losses" were close enough to have gone either way. trinidad is not one of those. oscar got robbed that time.

i haven't seen it. boxers are crazy. how else they gonna do that for a living? also, elite athletes possess confidence that is a half a step from delusion...genious is right up next to madness. same kinda thing. did he sport his fishnets, hookers in tow?

    Seems a very harsh post
The first Mosely fight was a SD which could have gone either way.
Many felt Oscar won the rematch.
You say many felt Oscar lost the Sturm fight, which is fair enough, but you don't note many felt he won the Mosely rematch
You say you felt Mayweather was the best there is, which I could possibly agree with, yet Oscar fought Mayweather to a close SD when late in his career
I can't see why Oscar, a former SFW champion losing to an atg MW champion in Hopkins makes him overrated.

Consider what Oscar did from SFW to WW Inc
    Amazing career

    Bredahl
    Hernandez
    Leija
    Ruelas
    Molina
    Chavez
    Gonzalez
    Whittaker
    Camacho
    Quartey
    Gatti

Certainly doesn't seem overrated to me
I think many seem to forget or not be familiar with his career pre WW, which is HOF worthy in itself imo
There are some that felt Oscar beat Trinidad

The fight with Mosely I thought he lost the 1st but can't remember the 2nd. My mate watched Oscar vs Mosely 1 the other day and reckon Oscar won. The punch stats favoured Oscar in the 2nd meeting. He could have got both or af least 1. Have to admit that but I'll have ro rewatch it.
    What did he do?

Oscar should have been a top 10 hall of famer but he let drugs and women dictate his legacy.

    Merited, credited, debited and inherited.

Oscar was a bonafide cash cow.

Mosley was on steroids. I thought Oscar clearly won the 2nd fight

    I thought Oscar beat Quartey

The other losses came when Oscar was past his prime or not at his proper weight class imo

I dont even count the Trinidad loss.

I thought he lost to Whitaker but it was close and couldve gone either way

The only time Oscar really "LOST" in his prime was to Mosley in 2000 and Mosley was probably on steroids

Problem is whether he beat either of those fighters. Your saying Oscar was robbed against Trinidad a fight where he literally ran and threw away 4 rounds of a 12 round fight.
At the sametime no mention that DelaHoya was exposed and a little embarrassed by a past prime Pernell Whitaker. That was an ugly fight. Oscar couldn't lay a glove on SweetPea yet somehow left the arena with the champions belts. Its possibly could have been a draw because Pea didn't have much offense either.

Ike Quartey fight was interesting. I can't say it was a gift for Oscar because he did step up in the 12th round and finished strong. It was an uneven fight with large pockets of it being dominated by Ike and his big jab....that one could have went either way. A draw would have been fair as Quartey won more rounds but DelaHoya had a 10-7 round at the end because he administered a pillar to post beating.
Oscar's one great win would be against Vargas at 154. Fernando was beaten by Trinidad but he was still formidable.
