Was Greb vs. Wills ever on the table?

    Pretty much the definitive no. 1 and no. 2 contenders for the belt in the early-to-mid 20s, was this fight ever in discussion? Did promoters make any offers? If so, when was it closest to happening?

    Greb never fought a puncher over 200 lbs, let alone a guy who was 6’4 and 220 lbs, and who could hit. I doubt even someone as gutsy as Greb would take this on. Especially considering he was not a puncher.

    Bill Brennan was right at 200 pounds and certainly was a puncher.

    That extra size of Wills, tho, especially with his jab and rougher techniques would be an issue for Greb.

    good point , i was thinking more along the lines of tall big heavies like Fulton, Morris, Wills etc.

    I researched "some" it they were on the same card that's about as close as they came. I couldn't find anything to suggest the match was talked about. Maybe they mention it in a Harry Greb Book but I came up empty.

    One of the Walker fight's for Greb, Harry Wills was the main event.
