I respect your view, I just don't agree with all of it. My view is that Wlad didn't earn it, but I understand those that feel otherwise. Always good discussing boxing with you even when we disagree :)

Fury is obviously a great fighter.

10 year unbeaten, effectively undisputed Vlad in Germany
    Undefeated Wilder 3x in America
Chisora domination as a prospect that no one else has been able to repeat except Fury
    Usyk's toughest fight

These are legendary feats. Only Usyk at HW is greater, and he is one of the greatest of all time.

    Absolutely.

And I understand your point of view, too.

To be honest, regardless of why the rematch didn't happen and even whether it should have...

The fact Wlad probably wasn't himself is enough to put an asterisk by that win, for me - the fact Fury had the chance to fight him again and put any doubt to bed and didn't, to me, devalues that win a bit.

Again, regardless of whether that opportunity even should have been or needed to be on the table.

Boxing did need it. Wlad had a right to it.
For the integrity of boxing, it was wlads choice of the rematch, squirming out of it is not good for boxing or integrity of the sport. It just created problems.

hence the belts splitting and needing balancing again (AJ n wilder holding them) and fury going off the rails.

what was the issue with just doing a rematch?
I’m not sure what you’re supporting here?
Fury could have just beat him twice, it’s not like he was boxing other guys instead.

He didn’t run straight for wilder. Wilder offered him a path back and he had a few warm ups before going for it.

Fury had personal issues that resulted in him retiring and going on a drug binge. That's reasonable enough for me.

Wlad lost the right to the rematch by coming in such poor form and refusing to pull the trigger.

Every boxer has tune ups, and after being 400lb on a long layoff, perfectly acceptable. It was still one of the two most dangerous champions he could have faced.

And that isn't even the biggest asterix against that win.

It's like boxing has collective amnesia about Fury (along with his cousin) actually popping for Nandrolone in the final eliminator against Hammer, directly before fighting Wlad.

They financially bully UKAD into silence, and the BBBoC obviously wanted to keep that one quiet once he beat Wlad as well.

I agree, but let’s not lie and say it was straight in with wilder

Since when is rights to the rematch dictated by your form?
He has a right as reigning champ and the fact it was agreed verbally and contractually prior to the fight.
If being dishonest and not honouring your agreements is what champions should be doing, we can agree to disagree.

It who he never fought while still claiming Champion status. The long list of ducked opponents has been done here before.

Everyone here knows the TF story. A lot of boxing money has gone his way based on persona and his passport. If boxing had a tennis structure. ... I don't think he would have come out with as many Grand Slam titles ... as the boxing landscape offer him.

That's my personal opinion on it, not gospel. It's Wlads responsibility to turn up to the fight in good form.

I recall Ruiz being a unified champion. Did AJ give him a rematch? I know Ruiz wanted it.

As for the post above that, if you want to argue semantics then sure you're right. I don't really count tune ups as a returning fight because they're essentially glorified sparring sessions.

Ruiz didnt get a rematch because that was the rematch that he lost. Come on you must know this basic stuff.

I understand your personal opinion on it, however that’s irrelevant when it’s a contracted rematch. One is fact, one is opinion

They were 1-1 with Ruiz holding the more impressive victory. Surely as the unified champion, Ruiz also gets the courtesy to set the record straight right? Or does that only apply to fighters you like.

And people pull out of contracted rematches all the time. Fury actually left the sport due to personal issues, it's not as though he went to fight someone else.

Eh? I like both aj n Ruiz, n fury so think you’re misunderstood. I understand they are different though.

    let me explain;
AJ vs Ruiz 1 - AJ is champion on a run of about 6 defences and fights Ruiz with the agreement that if the champion loses, they get the OPTION of a rematch. This is standard practice.

AJ vs Ruiz 2 was the rematch. With no contracted option for another included in these terms.

I don’t understand how you don’t understand that? This is fairly common practice.

RE Fury, I agree, he didn’t fight anyone else. im not sure of your point here?
    1. your saying Wlad doesn’t deserve a rematch even though it was contracted and agreed to by fury’s team in writing.

    2. Then your saying fury left the sport for personal reasons?

So which is it? Wlad didn’t deserve it or fury had personal problems? im not sure what case your arguing here?

Was fury leaving the sport and hence not doing his agreed contractual obligations good for the sport?

which other high profile contracted rematches do people pull out of all the time? Please advise me as I’m not aware it happens all the time and I was in the boxing industry for over 20years. So would be educational for me.

On a side note, talking of personal issues, didn’t wlads wife try committing suicide prior to this fight?
