Rico Verhoeven vs Oleksandr Usyk official for WBC Heavyweight Championship — May 23 in Egypt (DAZN)

Usyk deserves a money fight at the end of his career. However, it's shameful that the WBC is on the line.

 

Sure he does but do it after you've let someone else take the belts. He's sitting at the top with all the belts wasting time. My only gripe with this. Not the time to do nonsense fights.

 

Just for the record, Usyk's last eleven fights:
Briedis, Gassiev, Bellew, Witherspoon, Chisora, Joshua, Joshua, Dubois, Fury, Fury, and Dubois.

Whilst Verhoeven is not a fight I wanted to see, fans of fighters whose past few opponents largely consists of vagrants and nobodies have no right to doubt Usyk's mettle here. Usyk has consistently fought the best opponents available and has ducked nobody, and an easy fight for the money near the end of his career doesn't change that.

Fury is right, what he said recently, that Fury brings the crowds, the drama and the money.

Usyk isn't all that interesting without an interesting opponent.

 

So stupid sick of this crossover crap. Strip Usyk , he should retire from the sport then pursue events like this if that's his thing now.

 

I will not pay a penny to watch this night of shame while he ducked parker , wardley , kabayel and shot wilder .

Not a fight I'm particularly interested in. I'd like to see Usyk face either Wardley (if he beats Dubois, of course) or Kabayel, and then Fury if he wants that last big bag or whatever.

Even Ngannou would've been a better fight than Rico, imo.

 

Yeah, it's weird. The heavyweight division has been on standby now since Wardley-Parker too.

At least we've got Wardley-Dubois to look forward to...

 

Absolute disgrace. If he isnt going to be fighting actual boxers then he needs to get the Hell out of the sport.

 

Man its a farce of a sport at the moment. May v Pac, now this? Pass. Usyk has gained a LOT of kudos from me over the years but this is weak sauce
