Kabayel will be next I think. But truthfully I think people are going to be rather disappointed when it eventually comes to fruition. Kabayel and Wardley have nothing for Usyk.

 

Uncle Rico? The guy who can throw a football over the mountains?

 

Nobody wants to see top level boxers perform in these dog and pony shows. That being said, while it is a sport to all of us it is a profession to them. If a man can make some easy money it is hard to fault him for that.

Now, the WBC is a different story. I understand they are a business and want money but the fact that their belt is on the line is pathetic and disgraceful.

This is a very similar scenario to Ali fighting the wrestler Antonio Inoki in '76. Ali was a year from a from a career defining win, cementing his legacy. Usyk is in exactly the same boat here. It might not be right, it might not be fair, but it's definitely nothing new!

 

Ernesto Hoost kinda embarrassed the sport of Kickboxing when he lost to Bob Sapp.

K1 was very entertaining, but Kickboxing had more of a freakshow reputation stamped on it before guys like Rico and Glory gradually took over.

 

Ali defended his title 10 times in 4 years vs a wide range of fighters: Norton, Frazier, Bugner, Shavers, Young and Lyle. There is no equivalency here.

 

Never said he wasn't great, just said he isn't the greatest...Ramon Dekkers has that distinction imo

My comments:

- Like everyone, I would rather Kabayel or Wardley.
- I would prefer that he reduce down to one title, IBF or maybe Zuffa.
- All of that notwithstanding, I am going to unabashedly enjoy this for what it is.
- At 39, he may very well be having a Don Cockell moment, where he is testing himself out a bit.
- This in no way negates the goodwill he has engendered over the years. Yes, some of your gripes are legit, but those of you who are using this to further old grievances- forgetaboutit!
- Also, he does "deserve" a freebee. There is one world, should be one world champion, and he should not be stuck in this endless cycle of unifications, contractual rematches, mandatories, and re-unifications.
-So to the extent that I am upset, it is at the system, and the fans who unabashedly support the alphabet soup.
- Yes, he owes Kabayel a shot next, and hopefully circles back to the winner of a Wardley- Parker rematch.

 

Cash out then retire.

I wanted him to retire anyway so I think this is fine, especially by modern standards.

 

How is the WBC sanctioning this?
