Joyce is not in the running. He beat Dubois when Daniel was very young, and his career subsequently came fantastically off the rails. Both are head and shoulders about him. Dubois beat Hrgovic who both beat Joyce directly and beat Zhang who beat Joyce twice.
Which has nothing to do with anything being argued. I am going to let you go, since you are apparently not even following the argument. If we need to, we can put it to a vote.
Who cares. Usyk absolutely schooled Joyce in the WBSS without even breaking a sweat. It was a complete mismatch and waste of time, especially when he had a much better fighter with Joshua lined up. Is this our new narrative? Usyk ducked all the great challengers like Joyce, Whyte and Hrgovic?
Joyce was still his mandatory after Usyk/Joshua 2. Also I never said that, the fact is he's only beaten 3 ranked heavyweights
Again, who cares? Usyk would 12-0 Joyce every day of the week. It was a completely pointless fight. Also no, that's not a fact. He beat Chisora who was also ranked highly at the time.
I know you fixed the typo in the thread title but I actually think you might have stumbled on something with the phrase "inform contenders" here. "Inform contenders" meaning contenders that help inform us about fighters place in the division and teach us something new.
Usyk is shot and would loose against real top contenders today but he tries to glue himself on the belts .
That must have been the mods. I think they have been tidying this one up a bit as it has elicited some emotion I should pretend the typo was intentional haha It's like you said earlier in the thread that he has had opportunities to deepend his resume, but it's difficult to have a straight conversation about it
That the problem, isn't it. Guys like Joyce (who flourished under Salas in the pros) not getting their chance within even a two year window and eventually falling to another contender
Yet he decided to fight someone who his mandatory challenger knocked out. He also dropped the belt to Wardley, but hey, at least the division gets a little bit of movement going Chisora was not ranked in the top 10 during that time btw
Do you know when that might have been? My memory of this (and from what I can find so far) was that Whyte was somewhat dismissive of Usyk before he moved up, then became annoyed Usyk had usurped him as WBO #1 by using the cruiserweight loophole rather than fighting ranked heavyweights.
