It's time to finally appreciate Wlad's class as the champion

    Vladimir Virchis
    Oliver McCAll
    Sinan Samil Sam
    Alfred Cole (heavyweight fight)
Denis Bakhtov *when he could fight)

Excellent run for that period of time.

But again, as a two-time champ and a massive puncher, it still would have been a good name on the record. These kinds of fights are made all of the time, and this one would have helped answer some questions that never really got answered about whether Wladdy could handle a physically big puncher.

It's not even close to being excellent, lol.

Nope. It wouldn't. Nobody cared about Briggs at that point, he was seen as a clown for 4 round fights.

    WTF?

Wlad blew any potential fight with Lennox, due to his losses.

Actually with 1 loss, to Sanders. But before that, he was the second best heavyweight in the world for at least a year.

He’d already had his embarrassing loss to Purrity.

The Sanders loss was the final nail in the coffin.

Without those losses, there would have been a huge demand for the fight.

    I lived through the era.

He was seen as being talented, but also vulnerable.

There was no demand for the fight.

    Lennox didn’t duck him.

    He wasn’t on his radar.

Nobody looked at the Purrity loss at the time. People considered it just a slip up of an unexperienced fighter. Demand for the fight was huge - they even filmed it in Ocean's 11. But Lennox needed to fight Mike first. After he did that, Wlad was the most hyped up opponent for Lewis. If he didn't lose to Sanders and Lewis didn't fight him, people would definitely say he ducked him. But Wlad blew it when Sanders blew him out of the ring.

    It damaged his reputation.

Without that loss, he’d have gotten the Michael Grant hype.

Yes, they probably would have said that Lennox was ducking him.

That’s because you can never satisfy a boxing fan.

There’s always a guy who someone didn’t fight.

But the thought of Lennox being scared, and praying that he’d lose to Corrie, so he didn’t have to fight him??

    That’s nonsense.

Dude is bigtime overrated. Only reason he got to be champ is 'cause his mama said so.

Not being a jerk, here, but how old are you? Were you around in real time? Because what I said was is that it was excellent for the time. And it was. That was a thin era and that was a good run.

Haha, it’s not uncommon for fighters to call other fighters they have a good relationship with and wish them good luck and give them some pointers before an important fight. You trying to find something that’s not there.

It didn't tho. And he got the hype. He was HBO's heir apperent. For the rest - I don't agree Lennox was scared.

Yes, I was there at the time. Briggs been washed up since he lost 12-0 to Ibragimov. Never came close to world level after that.

I don't think Lennox was 'scared' of either Klitschko but he spent an awful lot of time calling their opponents giving them pep talks and advice on how to fight them. That's not normal and after he fought Vitali he proceeded to call his next three opponents to give them such sage advice as "try to cut him!" and "put pressure on him he can't handle it!"
