Very fair, but Fury had dealt with his mandatory by fighting Whyte the year before Ngannou. So while he was holding up the division, in a sense, it was objectively to a lesser extent.

Fury fighting Usyk (straight after Ngannou) also didn't actually get the division moving again. Usyk just continued the freezing out of guys who didn't meet his personal risk/reward calculation

Someone said it in an earlier post that one is a title fight, but they missed the point that it’s a title fight for unification and one of the fighters isn’t even ranked and has had one fight in boxing. It’s ridiculous unless you look at it from the perspective from Turki, in which case it is absolute genius when you think of his ultimate goal.
Turki has formed a partnership with Dana White in the form of Zuffa boxing, they have made no secret of wanting to disregard the governing body belts and establish their own Zuffa titles.
The most prestigious weight class in boxing will probably always be the heavyweight division. With Usyk holding three of the belts at heavyweight that Zuffa are looking to diminish, having Usyk fight against an unranked opponent for those titles under his ring magazine promotion seems like an almost poetic way to achieve this.
The cherry on the top is that by this being a title fight it holds up the division and potential title fights that would be counter productive to them trying to establish their own title fights.

what does anyone else think of this theory it’s only just came to me, I question the motives in everything if you hadn’t noticed.

some one tell me I’m wrong here

If a fighter fights 3 times a year, and chooses to fight one of these circus fights on top of that, well then good luck to him. But no passes given for taking these nonsense fights in place of real ones against ranked contenders.

At this point people are numb to freakshow crossover/influencer fights. A lot has happened between 2023 and 2026 in that regard.

Many fans knew who Ngannou was.

    Nobody knows who Rico is.

    This.

In saying that, I find Usyk's more unacceptable by a sliver due to his inactivity and lack of opponent variety.

People need to put the bias aside here and be objective.

Usyk isn't the degenerate Fury is, of course not, look at the family tree Fury had to battle to even be a law-abiding member of a neighbourhood.

But Usyk's choice is WAY WORSE. People are simply going easy on him because he's Usyk not Tyson Fury.

As stated, this is for the belts and Fury's was literally supposed to be a crossover and pushover fight, never a legit opponent. Furthermore Fury squeezed it in with the agreement to fight Usyk after Christmas, people are conveniently ignoring that. Thus he wasn't dodging anyone. Usyk was there at the fight, nervous that Fury needed to come through so their fight wouldn't fall through.

Completely different situation. It only became a drama because Fury and Kronk Fraud took it too lightly.

Usyk has been behaving badly for a while, wearing all his bling while Ukraine is getting smashed, training AJ instead of helping his own people, and now this.

How does his team of Ukrainians get away with spending time and energy training spoiled English pet AJ, his promoter going to parties in London, while his country is at war? It's a disgrace. He's got a taste of the rich life and has done a Wlad Klitschko, let's be honest.

why does one need to be held more accountable?
    what does it really matter?
honestly it seems like a question where the answer is pointless to me.

Hate to say but usyk BY FAR .

Fury previously defended his title against a legit contender and performed this fight afterwards as a pure business gimmick while usyk triple ducked legit contenders for belt defence and now calls THIS a world title fight .

Put it on top that ngannou was a world wide known name and a legend in MMA while absolutely nobody knows and cares about verhouven coming from a niche kickboxing scene .

Verhouven never had and would not have any chance in a boxing ring against any lets say top 50 hw boxer .

I hope not , but if usyk really does it it will go into history books as the worst and weakest wbc world title belt defence in history .

I think the crux of it is Turki is calling the shots and brings so much money to the table that the fighters will do whatever he wants.
He’s to blame for both these matchups. He’s also to blame for the matchups that don’t get made. If he’s not interested in a fight, it doesn’t happen, for example Usyk v Parker and quite possibly Usyk v Wardley.

The fighters are just his pawns.

Nah , here turki is probably paid by an unknown sponsor to organize this instead of bringing any money . Turki wants spectacular fights and not such jokes . Interesting to learn how much wbc got to saction this .

    Unknown sponsor?

To be clear I’m talking about lining the fighters pockets, which can’t be denied, not making a profit from his shows, which he doesn’t care about.
He has made some great fights but also some terrible ones.
Boxing is his own little fantasy league now.

Usyk pushed for this farce against the kickboxer with a boxing record of 1-0 to be a WBC title defence.

Makes it another dimension worse that what it is being compared to.

This is a new low of Usyk's own making.
