20 Years Ago Today: Joe Calzaghe Defeats Jeff Lacy by UD

Nobody cares about Jeff Lacy.

 

That is an absolute disgrace

 

They've had their moment every month or two for two decades.

One of them will randomly pipe up about "Wow, when I think of the greatest victories of all time, JEFF LACEY sure is top of mind!"

Then the rest of them well flood in and go on about "I say, Slappers really was something! Perhaps not the GOAT, but he should be part of the conversation!" and so forth.

It's a UD over a prospect who had done nothing and went on to do nothing. Let's all take a deep breath and finally move on.

 

This is treated like one of the greatest nights in boxing history, gets brought up every damn year.

 

Rightly so. Masterpiece.

 

It was a masterpiece, everyone thought Lacy was going to clean Joe's clock , i got into arguments everyday it was like i was surrounded at times, I was laughed at and ridiculed by the experts , then when i got back from Manchester on the Sunday night and logged onto ESB there were blokes who were previously confidently predicting Joe wouldn't see the 5th round all claiming they were "quietly confident " that Joe would outbox him , ****ing bizarre
