Shavers was every big a hitter as Wilder A past it Holmes being stopped by Tyson isn’t a big deal. Tyson would flatline the current Fury. Fury went down tk Cunningham, Nnganou and Wilder 4 times. Holmes is more durable, faster footed, quicker handed, with a better jab and stamina than Fury.
Wilder was the only one who had him danger. And Shavers sucks compared to prime Wilder. Holmes and Fury had similar durability, at best.
The fantasy version of Holmes some of you dream about while clutching and snuggling with your "Larry Holmes Pillow Pet "? Usyk doesn't win a round. Maybe even land a meaningful punch. Reality version? Usyk wins a clear decision. Maybe stops him late if it's scheduled for 15.
I have Usyk a good chance of winning a decision but the stoppage argument is absurd. Usyk is nowhere near as good as big enough hitter to stop Holmes.
Shavers does not suck compared to Wilder. Shavers is every bit as big a hitter as Wilder and he has a better win resume too. Holmes went down twice in 50 fights pre Tyson. Fury has been down way more despite having way less fights. Holmes is more durable than Fury
Yes Cunningham was a real hard puncher. Much harder than Shavers, Norton, Witherspoon, Cooney, Mercer, Holyfield etc. No Fury isn’t fighting harder punchers. Cooney alone is a bigger puncher than anything Fury has faced except for maybe Wilder. Holmes has fought more good and great punchers overall.
So what? Holmes was knocked down twice in his prime despite fighting more often than Fury and fighting good punchers on a more consistent basis. Wlad was old and gun shy and regardless, my point stands. Fury has 4 combined fights vs two massive hitters but Holmes was fighting hard punchers on a more consistent basis. Shavers is easily up there with Wilder power wise and arguably better since he has better wins.
Not a rebuttal, at least he fought the best. What big fights did Wilder win? Parker, Zhang, Fury? Dude never fought Joshua or Povetkin or Usyk or anyone with a pulse.
