I lived in Liverpool for years, and a lot of people don't ascribe to that; many actually cringe at it. It's heavily overblown by the media. At least from what I encountered. Aside from some Liverpool FC fans, many of whom are not actually from the city itself, often from places like the Wirral and Wales, a lot of people in Liverpool would consider themselves English/British. Also, if you think Belfast is more British, go to Andytown, where Cacace is actually from, and ask them how much they enjoy being British - you'd get a very different response than you would from your average scouser, I guarantee it.
