Two great fighters out of Detroit, Louis and Hearns.

Long Live The Motor City Cobra!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading that giant post which already got me convinced that it wasn’t a fair contest with Louis in the conversation so Arguello and Hearns at least evens it up.

This is somewhat terrifying to think about

i mean, how good do you have to be for a comparison between you and creme de la creme greats such as Hearns and Arguello, be considered "unfair"?

Its fair comparison because while Louis had a great right hand but it also presented its own problems that Hearns and Arguello didn't have. No boxer is perfect. A essay that glazes Louis while glossing over his weaknesses while saying nothing for the other two doesn't change that

Can you imagine if extensive tomes were written on what Wlad's right hand would do to a runt like Johnny Paychek?

I'm not so sure Hearns doesn't KO Mr. Paycheck. He doesn't look any better than the Steve Zouski types that Tyson was mowing down early in his career.

Two of my favorite fighters ever. Had the style that I always loved watching but in terms of who had the better right hand? I'm not too sure.

Tommy probably had the more devastating punch because of his frame and the amount of leverage he had because it looked to always came crashing down on his opponents. That's why some called it a "chopping right".

While Alexis imo always seemed to be the more precise and accurate punch where it just rammed into his opponents face. Like I still don't know how Aaron Pryor was still standing after getting hit with so many picture perfect right hands again and again. Really felt that Alex could have won that fight on the cards before the stoppage.

Not your finest hour Mark. This might be the first time I've ever seen it claimed that Arguello's power was overrated. Arguello knocked people out from bantamweight to welterweight....but yeah, Arguello didn't carry his power up.

More likely he crushes Paycheck in a clinch.

You might be making fun of his most essential weapon.

Still some of the best right hand KOs in boxing IMO. Can't decide who was better between the two.

I think Arguello and Hearns both had one punch knock out power.
Hearns threw his with greater speed while Arguello threw his straight as an arrow.
I think Arguello relied on timing more then Hearns.

Andries was a 3 time light heavyweight Champ, with a win over Bobby Czyz.
