Sonny Liston vs Big Daddy Bowe

Bowe crumples him. Big tough and skilled. Sonny is straight up and down. Not dynamic enough to avoid what will be thrown at him.

Probably Liston by virtue of his laser jab coupled with Bowe’s poor defense. Would probably be a tough fight though

Williams was 6'2" 210, Bowe was 6'5" 235. Riddick was more skilled, more dynamic and had a jab that could rival Liston's. He had a leaky defense tho so Sonny deffo would have a chance.

 

Liston is the more skilled boxer, and that poleaxe jab with a 3-4 inch reach advantage would bust through Bowe's defense. I think Bowe (in peak condition) would make it a very tough night for Sonny but Liston's reach advantage and great fundamentals would ultimately be the difference. KO or stoppage for Sonny in 10-11 rounds.

 

Agreed.

 

Bowe is less dynamic, less variety with the jab and lead hand in general, more flat footed, lazier defence, no feints, less rangey, Liston would get the better of it on the outside.

 

And that great left hook off the jab. Do not see the Bowe defense coping with that in any shape or form.

 

Bowe loved to beat the crap out of the little guys. I used to think he had no heart before the Golota fight ... but he does. Simply put I think he'd impose his size and grind Sonny down late. Liston's 82 inch reach is overstated by 4 inches. He's got no advantage on the outside and he'd not going to control Bowe with the jab.

 

No it's not. He has a long reach for his height because of his huge shoulders. For reference Hasim Rahman has an 82 inch reach, Listons dimensions are around that ballpark

 

He was listed at 80.5 in his latest match.

 

That's still a good reach for his height, not 4 inches off and Bowe didn't have a better jab
