trever berbick could have beat Mike Tyson

Alot of those fighters you mentioned like Holmes, Page, Thomas, were outboxers not devastating pressure fighters with KO power in either hand like Tyson.

And whilst Berbick was durable he was stopped in 1 round before by big punching Mercado.

So whilst Berbick could take punishment but against a puncher who jumped on him early he could be taken out as Tyson, Mercado, both showed.

I also don't see see Berbick as very skilled he was an awkward pressure fighter who used his physical strength.

So where is this fantasy coming from that Berbick is suddenly going to turn into the Heavyweight version of Pernell Whitaker and be a defensive master vs Tyson not getting hit at all ?

 

Is there a name for this world where Berbick beats Tyson? Are shuttle flights available?

 

Styles make fights, Tyson at that point was an anomaly, none of the fighters you mentioned that Berbixk looked better against were remotely like 86' Tyson, and Iron Mike had most of his opponents psychologically out of their comfort zone well before the bell went, gameplans out the window

 

I did 50 situps tonight so I would say that MY chances go up to trillions to 2

There hasn't been a notable athlete who wasn't on peds in five or six decades now.

 

Tyson was far quicker and more powerful than Berbick and he was far better than anyone Berbick fought aside from Holmes, Larry and Tyson were the two best heavyweights of the 80's, Berbick was nothing special.

 

Berbick and Michael Spinks both looked horrendous against Tyson. I think Spinks was just cashing out against someone he feared very much so that explains his "effort." God knows what went on in Berbick's head. If both were in better mental space and better prepared, then I think Spinks could have conceivably drug out the fight much longer and maybe even survive losing a decision. He really was a great fighter. Even a more mentally stable and better prepared Berbick gets KTFO at some point.

Doubtful. However, the following may be of interest to you. Jimmy Jacobs, Tyson's co-manager at the time, said this about Berbick after the fight;

''I believe sincerely,'' said Jacobs, ''that Mike creates an aura of invincibility. I have watched Trevor Berbick on tapes. And this Trevor Berbick was nothing like the Trevor Berbick I have watched. He fought as if he was in slow motion.''

My moms used to tell me when I played the numbers that the sun even shines on a dog's butt at least one day in his life, and that I might be just that butt of just that dog.

 

Is there another Trevor Berbick that I am unaware of? Because the guy I am familiar with doesn’t beat a prime Tyson in a million years.

 

Laughable era.
Apparently Tyson peaked at twenty or early twenties. That has basically never happened in any other sport.
Just the competition was so bad he could dominate as a 5'10 roided HW at such a young age.
Then as he actually came of age people claim he was 'shot' because so many people started destroying him.
Turns out he was never that good.

 

Every boxer that Tyson fought.............could have beaten him, but they didn't. Cowboy who was the first person to go the distance could have beaten him. He didn't. Bonecrusher could have, he didn't. Tucker really could have, he didn't. Pinklon could have, he didn't. They all had the attributes to beat him..............they didn't.
