A lot of his wins were premature stoppages, like against ribalta. Ferguson he won for excessive holding.

He couldnt stop Bone Crusher which other people have. He couldnt stop Mitch green which other People have.

And most people who fought him said Bone Cruncher was the hardest puncher. People think Mike Tyson was a power puncher based on what he did to cans.

His power is overrated only if you get a casual take that he's the hardest puncher ever. But his power was pretty damn good, especially that it was based on his speed and precision. Top 10 HW puncher ever.

Powerwise not a top ten Guy. Larry Holmes had 2 months training camp from a 2 year retirement and been dropped in even his prime by several fighters, not all huge punchers.

Lol, if anything, his power is underrated now.

    Only one to KO Holmes.

First one to stop almost granite chinned Thomas, and only one to put him down.

    First one to stop Tubbs.

One of the two who KOed Berbick (the other being another hard puncher).

    One shotted durable Botha.

Stopped Bruno (the 2nd time) down on the ropes although he had a massive 27lbs advantage.

Stopped several boxers over 240 lbs.

Multiple one-punch KOs and one-punch KDs.

I think it's ridiculous to question his power just because he didn't stop some of his opponents (something that happen to every boxer).

But he was the only one to stop him. And he continued to fight for another 15 years.

And by the way, Tubbs and Ruddock rated him higher than Smith.
Bruno and Ribalta said Smith hit them harder.
I don't remember neither Holmes, Ferguson, Nielsen and Frazier comparing their power directly.

It’s hard to feel the opponent’s power when you’re knocked unconscious.

SRL had pretty slow hands too, and Hagler's chin wasn't all that. People are easily deceived.

Is that why grown men were shitting themselves over fighting Tyson?

is this going to turn into another Tyson fan-club meeting?

his power seemed to be pretty good. anybody that fought Tyson knew they were going to have to take some wicked shots, body and otherwise... hence the Tyson fear was real. Only guy that could relax was Holyfield and Buster, after his mother had just passed away.

Tyson put a lot more leather on Holyfield than Cooper did.. some vicious shots. But Holyfield had a different frame of mind vs. Tyson.

top-10 puncher? he was a shoo-in for that one, even up to the mid-90's.

It ends up being overrated because people overlook his far superior speed.
