Is boxing worth it? Funk yeah it is. Live your life to the fullest. I wish that I had never walked away from it, who knows how far I could have gone. Yet, at the same time I don't know if I would be able to type this out if I had fought on.
Therein lies the ultimate dilemma..I seriously wish I’d given it a go when I had the chance, now I’m too old with ****ed up joints. He who dares wins ?
People never seem to understand this. The training and Proper Sparring is more dangerous than fights too. most fans think they spar if they go gym, but I’m talking proper sparring. People don’t realise how tough it is and the headaches n memory loss etc.
I'd like to know if fighters that go through hard sparring do better career wise than fighters that don't.
Probably that depends boxer to boxer, you would think. I wouldn’t think hard sparring is necessary most of the time, maybe a little bit to get sharp before a fight but day to day if you know you have the skills it just seems pointless to go too hard and risk any kind of injury.
Risk any kind of injuries? Do you understand what these guys signed up for? We had three world champions out of our stable and we fought hard everyday.... except Sunday.
I loved it. Training those hours for me was beautiful. Toilet before bed and stretching at 7.30. 7.45 head on the pillow. Then wake up between 3 and 6 usually around 5 but sometimes earlier then train for 3 hours. Training everything. Sometimes a road run. Sometimes all kinds of cardiovascular combined with weights and boxing. I lived and breathed it.
I had **** trainers for years. One dimensonal. If I got taught what I did later on, earlier in my training I wouldn't have got hit nowhere near as much. I picked it up fast in sparring. Took me a couple of bad ones to learn fast and I adapted straight away.
